If you’re a fan of zombies, I’m sure at one point you’ve heard of The Walking Dead. From its ever-evolving list of characters to its heartbreaking deaths to its truly terrifying zombies, The Walking Dead has cemented itself in history as one of the leaders in primetime zombie drama. But, this universe isn’t just The Walking Dead anymore.

Oh no, this world is far bigger than just that little group we met in the quarry in 2010.

If you’re like me and you’re looking for the next best thing that The Walking Dead world has to offer, these are all upcoming The Walking Dead TV shows and movies, from stories following our favorite characters to brand new tales that we’ve never seen before.

The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live - February 25, 2024

Remember when we thought we were going to be getting those Rick Grimes movies to officially wrap up Rick’s The Walking Dead story? Yeah, that’s not happening anymore. Instead, we’re getting a whole new series featuring both Rick and Michonne.

Announced at Comic-Con 2022, via Deadline, a new limited series featuring the two characters from The Walking Dead would premiere on both AMC and AMC+, and that the Rick movies that were originally announced were no longer a go. To be honest, this is something I’m really excited by, because I feel it’ll properly end Rick’s story - as well as Michonne’s, with one of my biggest questions about the last episodes of The Walking Dead being about Michonne’s potential return. Guess I got my answer in the form of a limited series.

Additional cast members, according to Deadline, include Pollyanna McIntosh reprising her role as Jadis, as well as Terry O’Quinn a Beale, Matt Jeffries as Matt, and Lesly-Ann Brandt as Pearl.

Be sure to check out our The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live guide for more info, because the end of February is getting even closer.

The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2

The Walking Dead: Dead City premiered on June 18th, 2023. It followed the story of Maggie and Negan traveling to New York City in order to get back her kidnapped son.

Season 2 for the series is already confirmed, but nothing new regarding it has come out just yet. The only thing we know so far as of updating this in January 2024 is that Jeffrey Dean Morgan said in November 2023 on a Twitter reply that they were all “excited” to get back to it and that he was talking with the whole Dead City crew:

But hopefully we’ll be getting way more updates about it soon.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 2

One of the major shows we were all excited for was The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, a series that took Daryl Dixon to France, of all please, and it turns out, it was a ton of fun with a lot of sick zombie moments and a really interesting story -- critics even called it "magnifique."

And now, the first season has come and gone, with its wonderful The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon cast, but Season 2 for the show is already confirmed. What's better is that this second season is going to bring in someone very close to Daryl's life - that's right, the finale set up Carol's return!

The showrunner for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, even spoke up about this sudden topic change, and that bringing Carol back was always the goal for this specific spinoff in an interview with ComicBook in October 2023:

It was always the hope and the desire that we would get Melissa onto the show in season one, in whatever version she was ready to do. That was always what I wanted to do and what everybody wanted. Norman wanted it, Scott wanted it, we all wanted it. So it was just a matter of working out what the show was going to be and then seeing how we could include her. Because we love the character, and we love Melissa, and we love the dynamic of Daryl and Carol together. So from the point where I started participating on the show, that was always the conversation.

When this second season is going to air, I'm not sure. It was hinted at in that ComicBook article that the second season is meant to release in 2024, but only time will tell. I have a feeling it'll most likely be after The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, but until then, I'll just be patiently waiting to see Carol call Daryl pookie again.

Completed The Walking Dead Projects

You know, as someone who has watched this show since the beginning, it’s strange to think of it coming to an end after I’ve had so many memories and made friends just from watching this series. After eleven seasons, The Walking Dead came to an end  reaching its emotional finale on November 20th, 2022.

While it was upsetting to say goodbye to several characters that I'll never see again, I know that this isn't the end, because of all these spinoffs that are happening, so I'll mark this down as a "see you soon" for some of my favorite characters. And now, I can happily rank all the seasons from worst to best.

Also completed are Fear The Walking Dead, which ended in November 2023, Tales of the Walking Dead, an anthology series, and The Walking Dead: World Beyond, a two-season spinoff show that adds a lot of background information to the world of The Walking Dead. If you want to check out all three shows, here’s how:

Stream The Walking Dead on Netflix.
Stream Tales of the Walking Dead on AMC+.
Stream Fear The Walking Dead on AMC+.
Stream The Walking Dead: World Beyond on AMC+

As a fan of The Walking Dead, I am excited to see what new stories the creators and actors plan on bringing to the world of walkers that I’ve grown up on. I’m also slightly nervous, because the last thing I want is to have too many stories all at once to keep track of.

Regardless, whenever these shows are released, I’ll be sitting in my seat with some popcorn, waiting to watch.
