The Music from the Americas series presents music by artists born or residing in the American continent. This concert will feature Rodrigo Nefthalí.
Rodrigo Nefthali is one of the most active guitarists of the Latin American Music scene.
He is constantly performing in the most important venues in Latin America, North America and Europe.
His interest in a vast universe of sonorities, coupled with his affinity for expanding his horizons, have led him to flourish in a variety of musical genres and styles, from ancient to contemporary music as well as jazz. His musical work encompasses interpretation, composition and teaching.
The instrument through which Nefthali’s sound milieu comes to be is his guitar. With it, he has performed multiple times on a variety of European and American stages. His performances, whether they be as a soloist with an orchestra, with a chamber or jazz ensemble, or as a solo artist, are defined by a deep expressiveness and flawless technique. It is precisely these traits that have earned him important awards in Mexico and Europe. As a composer, he has written works for various instruments and ensembles, prioritizing the guitar repertoire. At the heart of his aesthetic search, he leans towards a modal language with some atonal elements. He draws inspiration from philosophical reflections on life and death, love, passion, and the wonder of living.Currently, Rodrigo is a professor of classical guitar and chamber music at the Conservatorio de las Rosas, which is the oldest musical institution in America and located in the colonial city of Morelia. His students have obtained more than 80 awards at both national and international levels, including two awards at the GFA, one award at the José Tomás and two National Youth Awards.
