From USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Sierra Simone comes her steamy, TikTok-famous Priest series, in which sinners and saints alike test the bonds of religion, love, and lust.

He's a priest, and here is his confession.

There are many rules a priest can't break. A priest cannot marry. A priest cannot abandon his flock. A priest cannot forsake his God. Tyler Bell has had no problem playing by the rules for the last three years after a family tragedy set him on the path to priesthood. That all changes when the delicious, sultry voice of Poppy Danforth sinks its claws in him through the screen of his confessional booth, and he can't get her sins out of his head.

It should be easy to put his impure thoughts of her to rest, considering the vows Tyler has taken. It should be nothing to overcome what the sight and sound of her does to him, when his life with the Church means everything. But once he has his first forbidden taste of those red lips, Tyler can't help but break all his rules for Poppy―no matter what it might cost them both.

Unconventional and wonderful!
The story of Father Bell and Poppy is filled with sin and decadence. And yet, it is bursting with love and heart. It is wracked with pain and confusion and at the same time, abundant in it's clarity. Some may find it too sinful and blasphemous. They will never see the underlying truth of how love can be found in the most unexpected places. Or how love can be shaped by the very things that would otherwise be a deterrant to it.As a Catholic, It may have rubbed me the wrong way to begin with but, as an avid reader of romance and a lover of a good story, it hit home at just the right way.As I continue on to Tyler and Poppy's next book I will cheer them on!

“I’ve been at my parish since I was ordained three years back, and I love it here. Several months ago, I broke my vow of celibacy on the altar of my own church, and God help me, I would do it again. I am a priest and this is my confession.”

I love Simone’s work, I fell in love the first time I had the chance to spend a few hours inside, The Awakening of Ivy Leavold. Her stories tend to venture outside the box. She has talent for creating a story that is completely unique and a style of writing that not only engages me as a reader, it also refuses to let you walk away mid read. I found myself completely hypnotized by Father Tyler Bell’s story and his Poppy.

The Catholic religion is not something that I am well versed in; I was raised attending church and Sunday school in my early years, but not the Catholic Church. This story was full of shockingly titillating scenes that not only made me overheat, but also think. I thought very hard about what else was taking place within this story. Because yes it is an erotic romance primarily, but there so much more happening as well.

From the moment Poppy enters Father Bell’s confession booth, looking for guidance and a non-judgmental ear, he feels something critical in his life shift. He is happy, content and more than fulfilled by doing God’s work, volunteering his time to many other social groups within the church and mending the untold damages of the past. Yet from the moment Poppy begins her confessional Tyler Bell the man remerges for the first time in years, the man that he believes he had laid to rest years ago when he decided to enter Seminary school and begin his journey to becoming a Priest. She also brings painful memories of his past crashing back into present, now Tyler is conflicted, confused, and unsure of what is happening to him, and why now…

“I couldn’t lose her. And I couldn’t keep her.”

Poppy is new to the area, and when she meets the handsome 29 year old priest in the local church for her first confessional, she is drawn to him, and the attraction is scorching. She is entranced, and yet bewildered.

“Tyler, you are exactly what I want. Use me. Be rough. Leave marks.” She paused. “Please.”

This story is listed as taboo, an erotic BDSM romance that takes place in a Catholic church of all places. And for some it most assuredly will be but for me, the taboo never outweighed the beauty. It was beautiful for all of the reasons some will find it too much or maybe even find it disrespectful to the church. I think that we all forget at times that Priests, Ministers and Pastors are indeed humans just like the rest of us. As a rule, humans are flawed and we make mistakes. Father Bell takes his calling incredibly seriously, he is dedicated to the church, God and his parishioners, and yet most importantly he remains a mere human like the rest of us. He makes mistakes and he’s now realizing that he still has desires. For him this is unsettling to the extreme, he believes he had relinquished that part of himself years ago yet for some unexplainable reason this woman reawakens Father Bell’s deepest and darkest desires. Poppy obliterates all of his common sense and unleashes a man who is wreck less and not at all the man he has become. He can’t fathom what is happening to him. I think in some ways, he believes his sanity is slipping.

“You are truly beautiful,” I said, running a finger down her jaw. And then I reached for her hand, lacing my fingers through hers. “Whatever happens after this, I just want you to know that this was worth it. You were worth it. You were worth everything.”

The writing is meticulous, and even though this is without a doubt a work of fiction; I found it realistic and knowledgeable in more than a few aspects of the religion. I admit I’m not overly familiar with the catholic religion but this storyline seems entirely plausible, and I was addicted from page one. What really resonated for me with Priest was the forbidden romance element. I am a sucker for a forbidden romance, and Priest is the ultimate, unapologetic forbidden romance. What makes it even more powerful, is the overwhelming and almost suffocating conflict that rages within Tyler from the very beginning, until almost the very end. He knows what he is doing, thinking and feeling is wrong, but he’s like a junkie, needing his next fix and Poppy is his drug of choice.

This book has scenes that are so intense, dark and erotic you may find yourself wondering if you are indeed old enough to be reading them. I questioned it, shhhh don’t tell anyone. I’d heard enormous amounts of buzz about this book prior to release from early readers, bloggers, authors, every single one of them saying it was unimaginably hot, they were not wrong. This book was off the charts, question your age, look over your shoulder, sneak around, read it in private it sexy. Take a chance, read Priest, but be prepared you’ll need an open mind, to thoroughly enjoy this book the way the writer intended, it is after all a work of fiction. Priest is going to push every single one of your boundaries until they no longer exist.

“One and a half inches of damnation, and all I could think about was sinking deeper into hell.”

Well, then! Pretty sure I am going to hell for enjoying this book as much as I did. Also pretty sure that I will never look at an altar or at the poor, unsuspecting anointing oil the same way again, but hey...that is my cross the bear!!!

Father Bell is a young priest overseeing a parish in small town America. His reasons for becoming a priest are due to struggles and loss in his own life...loss that was a result of the dark side of the church. (I loved this aspect, by the way.) Father Bell has made it his life's mission to bring light to the darkness and use his experiences to help the church become a better place to be a part of. Poppy Danforth is new to the small town that his church resides in and she is at an impasse in life, when she turns to the church.

From the first second that these two are in a scene together (which was for her first confession), there is a magnetic pull and an intense sexual chemistry between them. Father Bell knows right away that he doesn't see her in the same way that he sees his other parishioners and he knows that it's a problem. What unfolds here is this whole inner struggle, Don't eat from the forbidden fruit, Adam and Eve-esque story. The book is told ENTIRELY in Father Bell's POV which was a risk, but one that I enjoyed. It's not often that we get a book with only the male POV but I don't really think this story would have worked if it were any other way. This is really about Father Bell (Tyler's) struggle with his identity, his vow, his temptations, and his future.

I'm gonna give it to you girls straight...this is a fun, forbidden, erotic version of this type of taboo story. And while I did think that this story had depth and struggle, it's a highly sexual book. But with every sexual act, I could feel the characters' struggle increase more and more until it reached a breaking point.

And there were many passages that did make me think, in general, being a Catholic myself.

So there was one thing that I struggled with and THE ONLY reason this this book did not get five stars from me, but it was significant enough that it took me completely out of the story every time that it happened. Before I go into it, let me preface it by saying that I was born and raised Catholic, and went to Catholic school all through elementary school. So, whatever preconceived notions you have of church, religion, and clergy members will impact the way you feel, at least to some extent, when you read a book like this.

My big issue was with Father Bell and his incessant cursing, internally and externally. I mean, the man dropped an F-bomb like nobody's business. It didn't matter if he was mad or sad, horny or happy...he curses like a sailor. I personally found this EXTREMELY difficult to believe.

And I know what you are going to say, we are talking about a man that ends up breaking his vow, desecrating his church, engaging in lewd, sexual acts all throughout the book...right? No, wrong. Not to me anyway. Why? Because his temptation and his passion for Poppy LED HIM to that behavior. That's the whole story. Whereas, his continued use of profanity is there on page 1. It's just the way the character is. I don't know... we used to get our mouths washed out with soap if we even dared each other to say bad words in school, so from my neck of the woods? This was a total inaccuracy. I'm not sure what the author was trying to accomplish with the use of it, but for me it was a fail.

There are just certain people that shouldn't curse, right?

Otherwise? I truly did love everything about this book for what it is. This is an erotic version of this type of story, so know that going in. Was it perfect? No. Regardless, was it still a sinfully fun and well-written read? Oh, holy hallelujah YES!! ;)

ALSO, I loved that it was in no way a preachy book because I can't stand that either. Don't use a book to mission me. Don't pull holier than thou crap on me, or the God-can-fix-everything bit. Not here, man!! Lol! This is a romance book. This is my happy place. Right? (Don't get me wrong, I am pretty religious, but for me, spirituality is a private thing.) Well, no worries there!! This is a story about Father Bell and his struggle with keeping his vow vs. finding love. It is NOT a book with an undertone of pushing God or Catholicism onto the reader.

All in all, this is one hot little number. I'm serious, some of the hottest sex scenes I have read in quite a while!! Do NOT go reading this book in public...LOL!

Sierra Simone is a relatively new author and I commend ANY author that takes risks, so for a new author to take a risk like this one? Hey, hats off to you girl! ;)

The title says it all... This is a love story with an enormous amount of hot sex and smut whilst fighting the internal battle of love vs sin. It brings to the front the outdated rigidity that the Catholic church has on celibacy for their ordained members. I enjoyed this book greatly 👏👏👏

I saw this all over TikTok so I had to read what it was all about and I was not disappointed. It is a taboo story and is rather steamy. It is such a beautiful love story between Poppy and Tyler (Father Bell).

It flowed beautifully and was fast paced, in fact I read it in less than a day. I love both the characters and the story is beautiful. I just advise people that the language used is rather graphic so may trigger some people.

HOLY HELL (pun definitely intended)

I think you either love or hate this book and I am strongly in the former camp. As a fan of dark romance, I loved the twisted setting of this book.

Not only is Sierra Simone a skillful writer but she also mamaged to perfectly describe Father Bell's inner struggles and make his character believable. Had he only sinned without repenting, it would have been disrespective to the setting of the book.
