When should I be using Presence of Mind as White Mage?

Pretty much whenever you use Aero/Dia and it's off-cooldown. It's nice to use when raising seeing how it cuts off ~2 seconds off the Raise cast, but since ideally everyone stays alive it's really best used as an offensive cooldown.

As a savage raider, the "White mage opener" to any fight (assuming the tank gives you a countdown) would be 5 seconds before pull: Regen and divine Benison on main tank. ~2 seconds before pull start casting Glare. And then once the boss is pulled you start with Dia, and you use both Assize and Presence of Mind as a double-weave, and then you keep glaring for the entire duration of Presence of Mind.

Then you basically use it again whenever it's off-cooldown, or you delay it half a minute to line up with buff windows though that depends on how well you know the fight.

I didnt know that I didn't know any of this. Thank you!

Should you really be delaying for the buff window? It seems this might cause you to lose a cast of it and I’m not sure if that is a dps loss given the dps gain of the buff window. The buff window and it line up naturally at 8 minutes.

Well no, normally. But in some cases, with well-geared and well-performing players you don't actually get to the 8 minute mark of a fight, so it's better to line up your Presence of Mind with buffs than to wait for the next one to come around.

Hmm. I’m not sure it is possible to kill e10s and e11s under 8minutes. I do see your point for something like 9 and 12 although the downtime of advanced relativity might make things weird.

Personally I'll pop that before a Holy explosion over and over on big groups. Things stay stunned. l also use it if my party is spread out and need to heal them fast but can't use AOE enough.

On cooldown. It has weird timing so it rarely lines up with your parties buff window. It is really worded funny but combined with stone/glare it should read, “do 20% more damage.”

Presence of mind is generally used for a fat boost of damage against a boss with your usual damage rotation or big pack of trash mobs with holy spam. You pretty much want to use it whenever you have the opportunity, and you really don't need to be super conservative with it.

It's a DPS cooldown. Burn it whenever you'll get a relatively uninterrupted period to glare/holy spam.

Buff windows. All that glare during tech step, chain, etc!

I almost always save it for DPS windows like Bismarck's back, or when the bunker tank is switching from ape damage to the balls from the wall (after it's off cool down from my opener)

The only time I use it outside of that is for faster raises during movement mechanics. And that's only if more then 2 people are dying more the. Swiftcast can keep up and if there are no Rez mages.

I don't usually use it for pulls since most things melt before if is needed. And holy for me is more of a stun lock, so having it go too fast and I miss my window. (Holy, assize, holy, holy that's about 10 seconds worth of stun)

So you’re purposely doing less damage by not using PoM holy when that in fact makes whm a mob killer in dungeons. PoM should be used on CD except for instances like bismarck where it’s a boring add fight and then you do the thing to the boss, repeat.

Yup! I hate DPS. Damage is the worst. If I could heal the mobs and counteract what the rest of the party does I would.

1 thing I didn’t see mentioned much is buff alignment. PoM has a weird CD so if you know the killtime you can hold for stuff like 6min burst if it doesn’t lose you a usage.

Edited

I haven't done any high level raiding or anything but I like to set the tank up with regen (and benison depending on level) then aero/dia>assize(if I know AoE damage is happening early in the fight I may hold off until a few GCDs later)>POM>stone/glare spam, but it's nice for holy spam too. Occasionally it'll get used to cure spam but I find even if the party is taking/has taken heavy damage and we're in a tough spot it isn't needed and half of it goes to DPS anyways.
