Great southern comfort food. We had the fried fish, okra, green tomatoes, macaroni and cheese sweet potatoes, collard greens, apple pie and red velvet cake. They feature huge portions at low price point. The food is slightly above average but it’s comfort food with value.

Delicious Southern Food is served here & the service is excellent! Here in Alabama this is know as one of our very Best Meat & Three. Selections are great as you go through the steam table line where plates are filled with choices of meats...& vegetables. Everything is good! I especially enjoy their Peach Cobbler!More

Been eating at Niki's west since a kid and I'm 60 now if that is an indication of how long.. The quality and taste of the foods have slipped over the years and have been very inconsistent over the last few. I keep trying thinking..."well maybe they changed cooks or maybe they forgot to season the dish.." I stopped in last week with the wife, 2 people, each had a 4 veggie plate. Boiled okra, fried okra, rutabaga, baby lima beans, fried green tomatos, blackeyed peas, collards & cabbage. The boiled okra & cabbage had so much onion it overpowered the taste of each. Rutabaga was bland and the collards were tough & undercooked. The rest was average at best. 2, 4 veggie plates with cornbread, 2 teas (no desserts).. $35 & change out the door $28. meal + 7. tip for good service as our table host was the best part of Niki's. I'm at the point now it's just no longer worth it...they'll continue to be fine without us.More

I don't get the attraction. The place was packed, the food was expensive, the staff was rude and our group of about 50 paying customers was told, "You have to leave". I had a plate of three vegetables and an iced tea and the bill...was $17 plus tip. You can do much better than this place. I will never eat there again.More

We arrived around 11.30 - just before the lunch rush, and very quickly selected our meal items from the extensive buffet offerings, and were quickly seated. The good was tasty and with the large variety available, each of us was able to select the main...items, and all the sides and desserts that we wanted. The place soon filled up but there was no crowding or pressure to make haste. Table cleanup was expeditious and the five of us really enjoyed the meal and ambiance. I would highly recommend Niki's for a casual meal anytime.More

First visit after many years of hearing - “I can’t believe you’ve never been to Nikki’s”! I went with coworkers for lunch and was not at all impressed. Basic cafeteria food- nothing special. There was a hair in the breading of my fried green tomatoes.

Cafeteria line moves fast very efficient and pleasant. Excellent food. Do NOT miss the peach cobbler; best I've ever had. Fish is great. Tons of country veggies and salad bar you tell em what you want. The desserts are huge and lots of pies, plus...2 cobblers. Many of the employees have been here 30+ years. You will be directed to a seat after leaving the line and they bring you your drink. $30 for us two.More

Feel good Southern food. It's relatively cheap compared to up North. Three sides and meat with the bread of choice only $14. Desserts are only $4?, but the food is VERY Good 👍🏽 😋. One girl came in with her midriff showing, she had to...put on a jacket. Keep in mind that you can't come in with your stomach showing.More

A group of 28 visited; passing through on Bus Tour; Business was notified in advance or our arrival. This facility seats about 200. Bathroom small; stalls were big enough for midget. Only three. Stalls had one handicap but no way wheel chair could get through...door. Food was cold and was suppose to be comfort Also Bus was not allowed to park on the large parking lot; Bus drive did not get to eat.More

I went to Niki's West for lunch. I had been in the past before, but not in a long time. I ordered the V. Cutlets with 3 veggies which were Fried Green tomatoes, Dressing and sqaush. Well as i'm going through the line, I asked...for Cranberry sauce for my dressing in which they said they didn't serve it on that day. What? Dressing with no cranberry sauce. Ok. So proceeded to my seat. I started to eat my food and noticed that every item i had was very luke warm at best, and some even cold. The steam table evidently was not working properly, because none of my food was Hot in the least. Even my dinner roll was cold. It wouldnt even melt the butter. I was so disappointed because of the food i had eaten in the past. The V. Cutlets and fried green tomatoes tasted like they had been cooked up for hours and then thrown on the steamtable at the last minute. My dressing and squash were cold too. I didnt say a word, just eat what i could and paid my bill. BTW i came at 11:15 AM which should have been all fresh!! not cold!!More

We were visiting our family in Birmingham and we wanted some delicious soul food so we decided to go to Niki's West to eat. When you walk in, it's like a cafeteria. Some of the servers don't seem to be very patient when you're trying...to choose what you want, they seem to be in a hurry to serve you, and don't explain to you what your options are. Only one of the servers seemed friendly and seemed to enjoy his job. The others seemed unfriendly. You can order food from a menu or get your food from the line. When people are from out of town, they don't know exactly what they want so the workers should be a little more patient. The best part was that some of the food is already done so you don't have to wait. I was disappointed because I read these reviews before I went, and I thought the food was going to be delicious but it was terrible! The food was very bland and wasn't even hot! The servings are big though. It was six of us and we left most of our food on the table. They gave us some huge rolls, but they were not good or hot! They didn't have many meat selections. Steak and seafood were not options in the line, so I ordered a catfish dinner and it wasn't good either. It was $23.99. It came with 2 huge onion rings, hush puppies, and 2-3 sides. Another thing that's weird to me is that many of the workers were just standing around watching while everyone was eating- I think that's weird! The waitress was nice and brought us plenty of drinks. The glasses are very small, but she kept coming by giving us refills which was nice. The restaurant seems kind of old, but it was clean. Overall, I wasn't impressed with the quality of the food, staff, or the prices!More

I live just over 100 miles away, but I have a family member here, so we eat here whenever possible for lunch. The restaurant is close to the farmers' market, so the vegetables are fresh. The choices are too many to list...usually 8-10 meats and...20 or so vegetables...then salads and deserts. But, don't come between 11:30 A.M. and 1:30 P.M. unless you want to stand in line for a while. But, the wait is still worth it. This is one of the few restaurants in the area that serves food "like your grandmother used to make." Yes, everything is that good. The menu changes daily, so check online, if possible, before you go to see what is available that day.More

The restaurant was not clean. Food on the floor. The vegetables tasted like most were canned. The bread used so much yeast you could smell it distinctly. Entrees were not offered that were advertised, we were told they were out. Unfortunately When asked for recommendations...to eat, locals all say to come here. We were disappointed. The check out lady also seemed bothered. Not a good experience at Nikis West. Less than mediocre.More

Saw some good reviews and gave it a try. Typical looking and priced buffet if you want that type of thing. They brag about a menu of higher priced freshly prepared food. It is better than the dry buffet line but still not so good...and you are still in a buffet type restaurant with dirty floor and people piling plates super high. The Waitress was very nice and helped correct the mistakes on our order. Buffet cheap and the menu expensive. I got two visits, first and last.More

Affordable, the two of us usually get out for under $40 including the tip. Its cafeteria style, the more you pile on your tray, the more you pay.
