Our first fish boil was fantastic ! The boil master gave a great history of the fish boil. Everyone gathered around the fire pit (and for all you Karen’s out there we did social distance ) and watched the show. The fish was really good...and fresh ( the fish master says the white fish was caught yesterday and is never frozen I believe him). The price is very reasonable about $22 a head. We sat outside and had a beautiful view of the water. Thanks for a great night. !More

A veteran “Boilmaster” sets the stage with a hundred year old Swedish and Norwegian feeding of the masses! Whitefish is the centerpiece and fresh off of Chambers Island in Green Bay. Two locals referred us here. What a Friday dinner treat!

For starters, I had to look up what a fish boil even was! My husband and I were looking for somewhere to eat dinner on a Friday night in Door County. It was a little early, but we are pretty hungry. We decided to try...the fish boil at the Old Post Office. We got there as one of the fish boils was completed but they had plenty of food that we were able to eat. Your meal consist of a plate of bread which had Rye bread, zucchini bread, lemon bread and pumpkin bread. Your plate of food was a large portion of very tasty coleslaw, Assam boiled red potatoes, and some boiled white fish. The server will remove the Bones from your white fish if you so desire. They give you a small picture of melted butter to pour over your fish and potatoes and there's some yummy Curtis's seasoning on the table. The seasoning is made and sold locally. The fish boil is the only thing that they serve on Friday nights. I am not a huge fan of fish but was willing to try. And then I overheard the person on the phone stating that if someone does not eat fish they also have ribs and fried chicken available. I wish I would zeason I thought non-alcoholic drinks would be included in the meal. They were $2.25 a a piece and tasted like water down powdered lemonade. I probably would have just stuck with water! We were encouraged to go outside and watch the next fish boil when we were done eating. It was very interesting and I would recommend it if you are in the area!More

This is our first visit to Door County, Wisconsin and we stayed at the nearby Hotel few buildings away from this restaurant. It was Tuesday - around 7:00 PM when my husband and I drop by Old Post Office Restaurant for dinner. It was obviously...very busy day for this restaurant and all tables outside the restaurant are taken but inside there were so many vacant tables. A lady greeted us after we stand in front of the restaurant door and told us they are sold out and accept reservation only. She was doing something else while talking to me and never look at me at eye to eye. I never insisted and walk away. In my opinion, a restaurant is booming and very in demand in the area but should not refuse any customer regardless who they are. I thought, it is very rude to say that we only accept reservation when there is no sign posted anywhere. We just walk away and told my husband will never eat in this restaurant even if this is the most in demand in the area.More

Don't miss the experience of a fish boil in Door County. Torch, our MC and chef for the evening, kept us all entertained while explaining the history and process. This is one of the best places for a fish boil as they remove the bones...from the fish at your table. Make certain to make a reservation to experience a fish boil as they only have room for a certain number of guests for each boil.More

The chef in the back by the cauldron was very interesting and entertaining prior to our meal. We received good seating and the food prepared for the meal was delicious and properly cooked. I would recommend this for anyone wanting a nice $25 fish boil...while in door County.More

Love a Wisconsin fish boil! First, I rented a cabin at Edgewater Resort! Cute, clean, perfect location in Door County and from my cabin porch I could watch the fish boil performance each night! The fish boil! One of the oldest Door County traditions and...over 40 years at the Old Post Office Restaurant. Potatoes and onions are boiled in a caste iron kettle over an outdoor fire, then the basket of fish goes in, and the finale is a blast of kerosene to burn off the oils on top of the water in a fantastic boil over! Meet at the fire ring and the “chef” will explain the process and perform the magic! The dinner is whitefish, potatoes, boiled onion, homemade breads (including pumpkin spice) and cherry pie. Lots of food and they debone the fish steak. Melted butter is served and adds the perfect flavor. Fantastic dinner! I sat outside and enjoyed the evening air and the sunset! Perfect evening! The restaurant also serves breakfast in the AM which I enjoyed - cheese on hash browns, what’s not to love. You can go light or hearty for breakfast, all delicious. And cherry juice! Make a reservation for the fish boil - it is a popular attraction and fills up fast. If you don’t eat fish, there are options.More

Decided to do the touristy fish boil but it was quite entertaining. Fish boil dinner consists of whitefish, boiled red potatoes, boiled onion, pumpkin, rye, and cornbread, cole slaw and delicious cherry pie. The cost is $21. The times for the fish boil are at...5 or 6:30 PM. Reservations are recommended and are to check inside the restaurant when you arrive 30 minutes prior to your seating time. You will be assigned a table number. After that, go around the back to watch the fish boil unfold. The fish boil master tells a good story as he is preparing the food. There is a portable bar outside by the fish boil that sells various beer and wines. Apparently, Ephraim was dry until a few years ago (Imagine that, in Wisconsin!) but now can only serve wine or beer and no mixed drinks. We were able to eat outside where the tables were socially distanced and the wait staff wore masks. Food was excellent! Chicken or ribs are available for an alternative to fish with hot dogs or chicken tenders for kids.More

We had originally booked a fish boil at White Gull Inn in Fish Creek, but they called and cancelled our reservation due to an employee testing positive for the Covid virus. I looked others up and this one had really good reviews. It was amazing...watching how they do the fish outdoors, and our meal was very good. They debone the fish right at your table. You get 2 generous chunks of white fish, 2 boiled red potatoes, 1 boiled onion, coleslaw, 3 pieces of different breads, and a piece of cherry pie for dessert made with the famous Door County cherries. The bay is right out front and the sunset view is amazing. Ephraim used to be a dry town, but they now allow beer or wine to be served.More

We have went to the Old Post Office Fish Boil three times through the years, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We visited this restaurant after reading all the positive reviews.... we were NOT disappointed! Reservations were made in advance (a must). After checking in, we were guided to an outside seating area and got comfortable. Soon, the fish boil started and the boil master explained...the history of this tradition and the fish boil process. After the boil over, we went to our outside dining table and watched the gorgeous sunset from as we waited. The waiter de-boned the fish and recommended we use the Curts seasoning on the table - the seasoning was soooo good that we bought to 2 to bring home Food was amazing- good portion of whitefish with potatoes, onions, and coleslaw. Also got 3 pieces of bread (lemon, rye, and pumpkin) and cherry pie for dessert I highly recommend this restaurantMore

Traveling with family in Door County and wanted to experience a traditional fish boil so we made reservations at the Old Post Office. Although we’ve had several fish boils here, this one was exceptional! The server did a wonderful job of deboning our whitefish and...the meal included cole slaw, red potatoes, pearl onion, three small slices of zucchini bread, lemon and marbled rye and, of course, dessert was delicious cherry pie with vanilla ice cream. The restaurant also has outdoor seating with a view of the Ephraim marina to watch the boats go by so it definitely adds to the experience.More

We were unfortunately at the fish boil that experienced a snow storm last week. Although we had a shortened information session and show, we enjoyed the food and dessert. I ordered the chicken, which was deliciously, crisply breaded and plentiful. I only wish my husband,...who ordered the fish, would have been offered more. I know there were many cancelations and so can only assume there was plenty, it could have at least been offered. I am glad I had plenty of chicken so I could share with him. Maybe it was different because they can't offer the meal buffet style, but I received more chicken than he received fish.More

I visited the Old Post Office Restaurant during 2021 Memorial Weekend just as season was spooling-up. Tried the Fish Boil Show and a Breakfast during my stay. First the ambiance… the patio (Fish Boil) and inside the restaurant (Breakfast) were both exceptional. Clean, great water...and sunset views and a nice ambiance made for a welcoming experience. Fish Boil – Great show!!! Boil Master gave a through explanation of the fish boil history. Plenty of picture time and told us when to be ready to shoot. The boil over experience is not to be missed, especially if you are a first timer! The food… whitefish was rather bland, even with butter and salt…same for potatoes and onion. It’s a historical dinner experience, so I understand, that’s how it was historically served. You have to try the fish for the experience, other options (Chicken–tried it, thumbs up) were also available…. The desert, (Cherry Pie) was tasty. Breakfast – Eggs over with sausage and toast. Food was exceptional and waitress provided great morning service. Overall, very pleased with dining experience.More
