Plastering is a tough job I had a section of a wall where I was replacing old base board and that's when I noticed how bad the plaster was so I decided to take on the chore of plastering those spots the plaster of Paris worked out fine 3 Coates and a little sanding.

Works GREAT! When hardened you can't even tell the wall has been patched once sanded. However, be careful not to mix too much at a time. It does harden extremely fast, I learned that lesson the hard way. Perfect for patching and does not crack like mudd does on bigger size holes. I highly recommend this product and will buy again.

I buy this to make my own chalk paint
I buy this to make my own chalk paint. I have been doing it for years and it works well. I have tried many recipes but I just like to pour a good amount into a jar, add some water and mix to get soup mixture and then add an equal amount of paint to the amount of plaster. Honestly that seems to be the best method I have come to use over the years. I haven't used it for wall repair just the chalk paint and kids crafts when I was younger and the stuff is really cool. I am sure there are so many things you could use it for besides repair. Here is a sign I made from the caulk paint mixture.

I have used your plaster of paris for years!
I use your plaster in all my sculptures. My technique I learned from an art professor I had at Long Beach State University. I use a 2 to 3 times plaster to water without mixing. I then hand apply the plaster to a wire armater. It sets very hard yet it can easily be finished with files and sand paper. I then paint 6 coates of bronze tone paints and seal with varithane spray.

Found it on the floor, beneath a bottom shelf, thanks to the guy behind the paint counter. 'Standard bag of plaster, nothing special about it. 'Glad they had it.

Thank you for posting your feedback. We are sorry to see your low star review on DAP Plaster of Paris. We are not clear as to the intent of your review, as you appear to be comparing two completely different formulas, with vastly different performance characteristics. Each of the product package labels communicate recommended uses, application guidance and performance characteristics. As a general rule, joint compound is designed and intended for use in the finishing of gypsum panel joints, nail heads and metal corner beads (thin "skim coating" applications, typically < 1/16”). Joint compounds are typically formulated to have a softer/wetter "feel", this permits thinner spreading and longer open time/working time. DAP Plaster of Paris (as with all similar Plaster of Paris formulas) are designed for rapid setting. Should you wish to discuss this, please contact DAP's Technical Customer Service Department at 888-327-8477 DAP

Thank you for posting your feedback. We're sorry to hear about your issue. All plaster, cement and gypsum-based formulas are moisture sensitive, as moisture is the component that is added to them to initiate the chemical reaction that causes them to cure. Unfortunately, this was likely due to improper shipping/storage conditions. Shipping damage issues should be reported directly to the shipping carrier and/or the Retailer (online or in-store), not posted as an online review, as your feedback is not seen by Freight Carriers or Retailers, nor does DAP have direct control of the handling that occurs during shipping. For further assistance, please contact The Home Depot Customer Service Department at 800-430-3376 any day between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. EST. DAP

Bought this to fix damaged areas on wall. Unfortunately found it very difficult to use as compared to other products I've used. If applied and you do 2nd swipe to level it has already started to harden and you can't get smooth surface. I tried multiple times and finally gave up and bought premixed filler. It's more expensive but so much easier to work with.

Thank you for posting your feedback. We are sorry to see your low star review on DAP Plaster of Paris. DAP Plaster of Paris (as with all similar Plaster of Paris formulas) are designed for rapid setting. As indicated on the product package label: "Add DAP Plaster of Paris to clean water in a clean container mixing 2 parts powder to 1 part cold water (40°F to 50°F). Stir to a smooth consistency. Do not mix more material than can be used in 6 to 10 minutes. Discard any material that has begun to harden. As soon as the powder and water make contact, the product's chemical reaction begins. For this reason, the 6 - 10 minute working time referenced, includes the time required to mix the product for use. For repairs requiring a longer work time (over 6 - 10 minutes), we recommend the use of DAP Plaster Wall Patch. Should you require additional assistance or have any other questions, please contact DAP’s Technical Customer Service Department at 888-327-8477.

Easily the worst purchase I've made
Product states 6 to 10 minutes of working time. This is clearly a lie as I'm lucky to get the 2 minutes it takes to mix it up in my driveway and walk into my garage. Product is halfway dry by the time I even start working with it. Ended up just throwing out most of it. Needs a definite reformation to not dry as fast.
