Senior: I really enjoy going to Charter Arts. My art teacher are incredibly resourceful and kind. I've made amazing friends here and I feel represented in my school. The only real downside is that my school isn't very clear on lockdowns. Two years ago we had a school shooter threat and we were scared and confused. Senior: Solebury School is a very inclusive environment, though the staff tends to be more white than truly diverse. People in high school need mentors so more teachers of non-white background would be beneficial. Solebury is really good at allowing people to find their own path and be able to deeply follow their own interests. If you are into music, you can be very focused on music and get into Berkeley. Senior: The best part about my experience at CASA is the ability to do the thing you love all day. I chose to go to CASA for dance and the experience I have had is amazing. In dance, we spend time in class learning new techniques and practicing the ones we know. We also get to explore ourselves as artists. Intead of just learning combos the whole year, we have the opportunity to choreograph our own pieces using what we've learned. We either showcase these works to each other in class, giving us the chance to have peer critiques or we get to perform our creations for the middle of year showcase. Our dance class prepares us for our futures in dance and life in general. There are a lot of things to be learned through the collaboration and focus it takes to be in a class like ours. As for our academics, we have amazing teachers. They are always extremely helpful and caring for their students. Alum: I graduated from Kimberton in 1971. Kimberton then and now had/has the same Waldorf curriculum but with a greatest emphasis on Waldorf teaching approaches that do not lessen academic achievement. The Waldorf curriculum and holistic teaching approach endeavors to help students achieve greater overall creativity with a strong emphasis on understanding the natural world. My two brothers and I as well as other members of my graduating class all feel they came away from Kimberton and their subsequent undergraduate and graduate degrees with a greater degree of creativity in the work areas they chose. Senior: This school really does get students ready for what life is like in college and after school in general. The way the schedules are set up are done in a way to emulate what college is like. Having the ability to choose a major to study also provides the sense of independence in what you are learning, because the students get to learn things that they want and not forced into to taking unnecessary art or academic classes that have nothing to do with what they want to do in life. They also offer students the chance to take college classes for credits or even go to the nearby community college to take classes there in person. All of this allows a student to be more invested in what they are learning and to actually care, while also getting them ready for college. The only downside this school has is that they don't take enough care of the students themselves as an individual and their mental health. Sophomore: GAMP is a very well diverse school. We have student representation groups, very good academic, and well invested teachers. The lunch on the other hand could be better. Not everyone gets to get the same thing which is a bit unfair. We have a school academic counselor but from what I hear she isn’t that well with helping students with college information. Our Music Program is amazing. We have Band, Orchestra, General Choir, Concert Choir, Musicals, and special instrumental ensembles. If I had to recommend anyone to the school I would say go for it. Senior: Going to Benjamin Rush has been a very interesting experience. Partly due to the nature of it being an art school, the kinds of people you meet are very diverse and interesting, it helps you get a great view of the world at communities that may not as frequently interact with otherwise. The schools focus on the arts is one of its highlights, a guaranteed creative outlet is very appreciates. An issue I have with the school is its sports programs, they are very lacking to say the least. The school doesn't have many boys sports teams so its hard to participate in sports.... Alum: My experience at The Academy of the New Church was overall enjoyable and prepared me for post-highschool education. The best parts of this school included the caring faculty, vigorous curriculum, and fabulous sports program. Senior: My experience at The Christian Academy has helped me grow both spiritually and academically. The best parts have consisted of my strengthened faith in God, receiving support while struggling with mental health, and the variety of art classes I have taken on. Attending chapel service every Wednesday allows students and faculty to all come together as children of God and worship Him in union. The weekly tradition reenforces our motivation to be consistent with our religious practices. With everyone in the faculty being a true Christian, students are almost always near responsible role models with warm, welcoming traits. This factor is especially visible through the mercy given to those having a rough time. I have reached out to many teachers asking for some flexibility with assignments and due dates while dealing with personal hardships. They have always taken my words into consideration. Sophomore: My school is located in downtown Philadelphia aka Center city. Majority of students take public transportation to get to school and some are driven by parents. The school is old office building and has 8 floors. It’s a nicely designed school space with every floor being almost identical so it’s hard to get lost. It’s a performing arts school so I’m very privileged to be taking a major at this school. I’m also great full to have working air conditioning at this so many other schools in Philadelphia don’t have air conditioning let alone health grade like my school is equipped with. The students are very diverse but it’s not the same for the staff and teachers. They best part of going to this school is the many opportunities it’s has for example up on the 8th floor this is a pilot similar that studies in their sophomore year can apply to join and once passing then could go to the northeast Philly airport and fly. Senior: I had been introduced to the classical learning method employed by Regina Luminis at a young age, in 1st - 3rd grade at one of its sister schools, Regina Angelourum in Ardmore, PA. After leaving, I was bounced around various other curriculums, but I was not content. All of my classes seemed static and compartmentalized, and I felt I was actually learning very little. RLA provided this much-needed coherence; I was shown how interwoven and engaging my many subjects were. Middle School Student: Attending Lehigh Christian Academy has changed my life. I am in 8th grade now and joined in 6th grade and I can honestly tell you that everything about this school is amazing and you should definitely attend. They incorporate the Bible in pretty much every subject and really try hard to prepare students for the future in a worldly setting with a Biblical worldview. I love the chapel services every Wednesday and their arts and sports programs. They have rigorous academics and really work you the core.
