Rick Stout's Pioneer Manufacturing Dates Code (Find the date (month and year) your Pioneer audio equipment was manufactured - StereoManuals.com Reference Section

Find
the date (month and year) your Pioneer audio equipment was manufactured. This is NOT a chart of when the Pioneer Units were "sold."
Depending on many factors, the unit may have been first sold at retail many
months or possibly years after it was manufactured.
Use this chart to figure out the date you Pioneer audio
equipment was manufactured. The Serial Number on the back of your unit
has two letters at the beginning. The FIRST LETTER = the YEAR it was manufactured
and the SECOND LETTER = the MONTH of that year.
Pioneer started the alphabet over again starting in 1980 and presumably will
do the same in 2006.
