Thoughts on The Dark Side of the Moon?

question

What is the point of the song Speak To Me being included in the album The Dark Side of the Moon?

What is this song supposed to mean and how does it contribute to the album's message? What's your take on it?

As Waters said, "Speak to Me is an overture to the album."

It contains parts of the other songs, such as money falling, clocks ticking, and the transition into Breathe, with screaming. Hinting Money, Time and The Great Gig in the Sky respectively

Exactly how many more thoughts do we need on this album?

Showcasing the motives in the album

It's the opener, and a good one at that. It builds and builds until it explodes and rolls right into the chill track "Breathe".

It sets the mood, it allows for the build up, it allows for commentary in the answers to some of the questions…

Listen to it. Enjoy it. Breathe. Breathe in the air.

Is this a bootleg? First I'm hearing of it!

It’s okay

Whenever I play this song when playing the album (because it really must be listened to as an album), in the opening moments, my thought is the same: never gets old.

The opening is actually brilliant. It acts the same as an overture in Broadway musicals - giving you snippets of what you are about to hear - but in a very Floydian manner.

Never heard of it.

Never heard of it.

Well it's kind of obscure innit? I mean maybe a hardcore fan would appreciate it but what's a normal person to make of "Money, it's a gas" or "You run to catch up with the sun" or a singer who admits he's a lunatic? Bit dodgy innit?

I have a crazy story for that song. I was going to work with my aunt, she was driving. We had the CD playing. She started choking on her drink. Her coughing was literally going to the song. As the song got more intense, so did her coughing. It calmed down and stopped with the music. I was shocked. I don't know if she realized but I will never forget it. She was okay btw.

There is no dark side of the moon

Really. Matter of fact it's all dark.
