About
It's no wonder that this is one of the most historic and picturesque squares in Italy: in antiquity, it served as a Roman forum; today, it contains many historic buildings, sculptures with a popular and colorful market overflowing with fresh fruits and vegetables.

- Sonia51 contributionsAmazing 🤩Lovey restaurants and bars all across the square. Very welcoming and drinks and food are all reasonably priced. Love the way you get a bowl of free crisps with your drinks and the atmosphere is amazing. Would recommend having a walk around at night and take loads of photos cz it's so magical. There was also markets in the day on Saturday and Monday when we were there so lots of shopping and haggling.Visited July 2023Traveled with familyWritten July 18, 2023

With stunning buildings surrounding square it’s really awesome to see, inside square there is a variety of market stalls (not the best to buy things) including a nice water fountain and some statues. Around the perimeter of square are many restaurants that have nice quality food and variety had lunch and dinner in Square during my few days in Verona. Try to experience Piazza in the day and night as you get a great contrast with square lit up at night.Visited February 2023Traveled soloWritten August 9, 2023

It's definitely the hub of the city. Only a two minute walk from Juliets balcony. Great place to sit and people watch. Restaurants are a lot more expensive here, but you have great views. The markets sell all sort of goods and the prices are not too bad. We loved it.Visited September 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten September 11, 2023

As others have mentioned, this square is right in the thick of Verona's old town so you can't miss it. During the day it is bustling with tourists at the bars and shops, or queueing to see "the" balcony.
At night there is a brightly lit market, with some well placed uplights on the surrounding buildings that make this place feel quintessentially Italian.

Gelateria Amarino at the Piazza delle Erbe is super. In the cones, the gelato is shaped like a beautiful flower. And the gelato is super yummy.Really good and the staff speak English and are friendly. Highly recommended

Not far from Juliet’s balcony, a good place to find food after visiting. Many stalls selling food & produce, as well as numerous restaurants. We bought delicious pizza slices from a deli and strawberries from one of the market stalls, and ate in the marketplace. There were many stalls selling tasteful souvenirs such as ceramic items, murano glass and summer clothing. The buildings and monuments in the square were beautiful and well worth photographing. The highlight of our trip to Verona!

Had a late breakfast here in this square, at a restaurant where we could just sit and people-watch. ha. Relaxing, and entertaining. Bustling with activity in Late May, Early June. Very short walk from the Arena and from the Romeo/Juliet site. Don't miss.

The most striking thing about visiting Verona, to me, was the very small sleepy town empty vibe, in the morning, contrasted to the overcrowded bustling vibe, in the afternoon. Piazza Erbe seems to be the center of all the activities, with all the main attractions emanating from here. This Piazza was the spot for the ancient roman forum and it’s a huge market style gathering place. I highly recommend stopping through here!

Everyone meets in the PIAZZA and Piazza delle Erba accentuates the need for people to be around people. Although there may be no words being exchanged, locals and tourists feel the warmth around them and feel safe as if strolling in their backyards..Indeed, Piazza delle Erbe is very private but it is free for all. With no traffic and a magnificent view of the ancient Roman Arena, everyone makes this piazza their own backyard to meet, chat, and let life go by as slow as possible. We sat there at night, watching people go by, enjoying their casual presence, and sipping our favorite drinks, spritz and negroni. Life is good. Better when you sit in an Italian Piazza. Best when you are sitting in Piazza delle Erbe in Verona.

Piazza delle Erbe is the oldest square in Verona. It was for centuries the fulcrum of the social, economic and religious life of the city. What is interesting Piazza delle Erbe was built on the remains of the ancient Roman forum that included a Capitol, Temples and Baths, connected by an arcade that housed many stores. Nowadays this Square really looks spectacular. There are many nice restaurants when you can sit down and admire beautiful architecture.

Not our best choice on our trip through Europe. The Lasagne was pre-made and not heated well enough. The steak was nice but ordered potatoes which were not cooked. Told the waitress who offered no apology and simply could not care less. Offered no discount or even apology so would suggest eat there with caution.

Hi we are not sure as we took a train from Milan to Verona. It's best if you find parking across the Elbe river as it is only a short walk to the Piazza. hope this helps you.

Si può prendere un autobus che dalla stazione va a Porta Borsari (via Diaz) e da lì procedere per corso Portoni Borsari e, proseguendo fino alla fine, si arriva in piazza.

As a public square it's always open. Because vacation, I expect more tourists and for this reason I believe bars and restaurants would be open. Probably museums but it's better to check on Verona website
