UP: Ex-BSF man guns down minor daughter’s alleged rapist near Gorakhpur court

Gorakhpur: A 25-year-old youth was allegedly gunned down by the father of a girl whom he had allegedly abducted and raped in 2020. The shooting incident occurred in front of the gate to the civil court in Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur on Friday. The girl’s father, who is a retired jawan of the Border Security Force (BSF), has been arrested by the police.
The now-deceased youth was identified as Dilshad Hussain, a resident of Bihar’s Muzaffarpur. He was accused of abducting and sexually assaulting the retired BSF personnel’s minor daughter in 2020. The retired BSF personnel shot the youth dead using his licensed weapon on Friday when he had arrived at the court in connection with the case. Two security guards, deployed at the court gate, and the manager of the car parking lot there, apprehended the retired BSF man. Later, the police recorded the arrest of the accused.
“A youth was shot dead at the civil court gate and the assailant has been arrested. The body has been sent for post-mortem and after the report arrives, a case will be registered,” a report by The Times of India quoted SSP Vipin Tada as saying.
Reports say the now-deceased youth ran a puncture repair shop near the retired BSF personnel's residence in Badhalganj area of Gorakhpur. He had allegedly abducted and raped the retired BSF personnel’s minor daughter in February 2020.
After the matter was reported to the police, a case was registered under various provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. On March 12 last year, the accused was arrested from Hyderabad while the minor girl was rescued. Two months ago, he was released from jail on bail.
