An upper level low pressure system will move through southern Arizona today bringing periods of mostly showers this morning and showers and thunderstorms this afternoon/evening. A few strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible this afternoon, most likely south and east of the Phoenix area. Heavy rainfall and localized flooding will also be possible today, particularly south and east of Phoenix. Lingering chances for showers and thunderstorms are expected on Monday and possibly Tuesday across the high terrain.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible today, mainly affecting southwest Arizona. The primary threats for today will be gusty winds and localized heavy rainfall. Drying conditions will be seen starting Monday with showers and thunderstorms staying east of the area. Temperatures will remain a few degrees below normal through the early part of the week with lower desert highs mostly in a 90-95° range.
