I've been to many National Battlefield parks and this is one of the largest and best for nature lovers. There are many miles of trails and multiple park roads take you to all the key points where the long siege and battles took place in 1864 and 1865. There are also many Civil War park sites just north in and around Richmond. Very easy to spend a full day at Petersburg.

The museum and grounds provide a basic understanding the life of a civil war soldier as well as showing the area of the one of the last battles. Extensive exhbits and audio tour.

We stopped in Petersburg primarily to tour the National Battlefield and based on TA reviews added Blandford Church and Cemetery to our schedule. It did not disappoint! We knew docents were available and ours was excellent. His knowledge of Petersburg history was extensive. We started with the cemetery (1702) for about 20 minutes before entering the church. Each Tiffany window is unique and crafted over an 8 year span. Again, the history of its conception and finalization is probably little known to others outside of the area. What Tiffany's artisans created is very detailed and symbolic portraying the apostles. Again, our docent made it come alive. The suggested donation of $10 was worth 10 times that much.

What a fabulous and well displayed museum! I think every age would enjoy a visit here. They have a large gift shop inside, restrooms, multipurpose room that can be rented out and a small museum area for Mr. Pamplin and his son, Dr. Pamplin. The civil war museum is interactive in the way of you pick your soldier and follow him throughout the war. They also furnish you with a headset an audio tour. You can listen to as much as you like. The displays are very well done and laid out with plenty of explanation. I loved this museum!

We were on a long road trip to New York and wanted to stop to avoid traffic. We looked up close by breweries and found this gem! The beers were delicious! We had tangerine dreams, which was my favorite and two other IPAs that were tasty. The pizza was a huge surprise, it was perfect! They have a pizza oven from Naples. My husband being an Italian from New York, we are pizza snobs and don't usually expect much but this was delicious and hit the spot. Deja and Jacqueline waited on us at the bar and they were sweet, attentive and helpful.

Impressive mansion ca 1820s that started as Federalist style. Subsequent owners redid it several times. It is very elegant inside with mostly period furnishings. Seems there are several resident ghosts too.
Visit is guided tour only. Our guide was reluctant to wear his mask but we insisted. After that our tour was very interesting and pleasant.

My boyfriend and I stopped by here on a quiet Saturday. The docent was enthusiastic and informative, telling us about the Civil War history of the bank up to some fun details about its use for film sets. Glad we stopped by!

This is one of the cleanest and most well organized Antique Malls that I have been in. The staff was friendly and helpful. A small percentage of the booths feature new products. The second floor is mostly vintage clothing A fun afternoon.

I just recently went to see this and was very surprised and learned many facts. I have been living in the area for many years and have even drove by this place many times.

The Exchange Building (c.1839) is an impressive Greek Revival style building that is said to be one of the least altered examples of a market building in the nation. It is hard to believe with all the history in Petersburg that this is the only National Historic Landmark in the city of Petersburg. At one time it housed the Siege Museum, but is currently home to the Petersburg Visitors Center on the 1st floor.

This is a beautiful cemetery that is well managed. I dont know if I would go out of my way to see it but it was on the way to my next stop. It's about a 10 minute stop.
