Illinois Private Investigator Licensing

Everyone needs to obtain a Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC) before working for a licensed detective agency. The PERC does not make you a licensed private detective. It only allows you to work as a direct employee of a licensed agency. Within 30 days of employment (or before you’re hired), you must have completed 20 hours of basic training. This training may be completed in a classroom or online with a qualified instructor.
