[You have to give up something before you can actually gain anything]。
我看了一些资料,有翻译成[reluctant to],[unwilling to]或者[grudge to]。
[Linda, it’s hard for me to part with you.]
[This headphone is not the only one of its kind, but I cherish it so much since it was a gift from Linda.]
当然,根据语境,舍不得表示吝啬的时候就可以用[be mean on something],或者表示即使割舍不下、不愿放弃,也要放弃[force oneself to give up]。
[Don’t be mean on spending money. You’ll lose much more if you fail the business.]
[The fox can only be caught when you force yourself to give up your chick.]
[Hope the above in order.]
