He was quoted on the official Scientology website in 2005, saying: 'The wins that I've had with Scientology coincide directly with the rise in my career.'

Adding: 'I wish to acknowledge Ron's [L Hubbard] brilliant work, benevolence and stick-to-it-ness. He never gave up and I am thankful and happy to be a recipient of that knowledge.'

Meanwhile, Juliette's mother Glenis Duggan Batley, a graphic designer, divorced him when the actress was just a toddler.

Speaking to The Telegraph in 2010 Juliette spoke about 'divorcing' her parents herself, when she was 14-years-old.

'My dad instilled in me to naturally question all authority. I don't follow anything blindly. That's religion, cops, doctors, schools, you name it,' she told them.

Last year, Juliette told The Guardian she was nursing Geoffrey back to health after an illness.

'Six months prior [to filming August: Osage Country] I had almost lost my father. My sisters and I had come together in this intense way.'

'What I was bringing to the movie is having gone through facing your parents' mortality, thinking about things you don't consider in your 20s.'
