The Seafarers Harry Lundeberg School of Seamanship (SHLSS) at Paull Hall Center campus is a vocational school dedicated to preparing students for successful careers as U.S. merchant mariners. The SHLSS provides entry-level training for individuals who wish to begin a seafaring career and do not accept students that already hold a rating. SHLSS is located on the campus of the Paul Hall Center for Maritime Training and Education.

SHLSS offers courses in the Deck & Engine Department to meet the requirements of the Seafarers International Union and the United States Coast Guard. Courses are developed and written to meet the standards of the IMO and the STCW. The upgrading programs are offered to mariners who wish to receive training to upgrade or improve their job skills.

This continuing education training provides seafarers with the credentials and job skills they need to move up to a higher paying, more responsible position on board ships and tugs. The upgrading programs are divided into three departments: deck, engine, and steward, to match the job departments on ships, boats, and tugs.

Another sacility at Paul Hall Center campus, Joseph Sacco Firefighting and Safety School is located on property adjacent to the Center, features state-of-the-art training aids for teaching basic and advanced firefighting, damage control, confined spaces, and helicopter-firefighting. Included at the school is a mock-up of an engine room, a bilge fire, and an intricate maze that resembles those found on board many merchant vessels. Located in the instructional building, the swimming pool allows for water survival training and testing.
