Great college hockey atmosphere! Classic. Beautiful building, small atmosphere, good location in campus and Ann Arbor. Highly recommend attending a game at Yost!

Anything Michigan Wolverine is 5 stars. Seats can be tight. The experience is worth it.

Checked out the public skating for the first time (hours are limited, and never on game days, but you can rent a pair of skates cheaply). It's a pretty interesting experience. The soaring windows bathe the ice in natural light, giving this college hockey rink even more of a cathedral feel than it has at night. You can sit on the same bench as the team sits and take selfies on the ice. Highly recommended experience if you're a college hockey fan in town for a game and can add a day to your stay.

Other hockey arenas may offer more seats, bigger ice and/or nicer luxury boxes, but few can match the intimate close-in hockey watching experience of Yost.
For the full Yost experience, arrive early and make a loop around the perimeter, where you can see pictures and stories of all the Maize and Blue hockey legends who have contributed to the greatness of the program. Don't miss the foosball-style hockey game in the southeast (?) corner of the arena, which you can test out your table hockey skills for a buck. The concession stands sell 10" Cottage Inn pizzas for $10.
For maximium entertainment, buy tickets on the southwest side of the arena, where you take in the full sound of the pep band and enjoy the hijinks of the student section.
Built in the 1920s, much of Yost isn't very accessible to the mobility-limited. Getting to your seat may involve a climb up a steep flight of stairs. To mitigate the limitations of the space, Michigan has reserved several seats on the glass for those with disabilities. Anyone with a ticket and impairment can trade in their tickets for chairs / wheelchair spaces right on the glass. These seats are first-come, first serve, so arrive early if someone in your party has a need. - T.J. G.Port Huron, MI326232960Feb 25, 2020
One of the coolest (pun intended) to see a college hockey game in the U.S. If you ever wondered what it was like to see a game at the old Olympia, this is about as close as you'll get it. It's just a grand old barn of a hockey arena.....with all the good and bad that entails. Recent upgrades means it's a much brighter spot to see a hockey game then it used to be, and you no longer are standing in line for the two bathrooms that the entire building used to have ....there are now MULTIPLE ones!
In short, if you want to watch "the best game you can name," come to Yost for a "good ole hockey game"!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Chris J.Bedford, TX27208231Nov 4, 2016
There is absolutely nothing like coming home to Ann Arbor and watching Yost Arena light up the sky as you're driving down State Street.
To step into Yost is like stepping back through history of all those who have skated the school to championships, a building that has stood the time of history and a coach who has given the players, the team, the school, the fans, and the asst coaches his heart and soul to the sport he loves.
I hold season tickets in the handicap section right on the ice. Due to a spinal cord injury I can't skate anymore but I can still feel rumble of the bleachers.

Excellent venue for college hockey! Not exactly an arena but more a classic hockey barn. Loved the open skate to be able to take the same ice as the team. Lots of history and even a stuffed wolverine! Def check out the open skate of you can.

Iconic old school arena! Great atmosphere for college hockey. Would be a solid 5 stars if transportation and parking were easier. Recent upgrades to concessions and other amenities make Yost a first rate facility. Tickets are now more accessible and priced for any budget. Worth a visit to one of the shrines of college hockey. The Michigan Hockey Band is top tier and the Children of Yost student section is always entertaining... even if the game is not

Iconic college hockey venue! Great atmosphere for college hockey! Yost Arena started out in 1922 as Yost Field House and has evolved into one of the storied venues in college hockey. Recent remodels have improved infrastructure but amenities are not what some more modern facilities can boast. That being said, the atmosphere is always electric when the Wolverines take the ice. Tickets are reasonably priced compared to some other sports on campus.
