Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It’s well organised, but unless you are a fan of 1960s films (Hitchcock and hope/crosby) then it’s all a bit dated. Nothing much going on when we were there (writer’s strike) . The waiting areas had some costumes which was cool. Guides are nice and friendly. The film sets are interesting (and seemed familiar) but overall it was meh. Looking at the other reviews..people seem to have liked it better, but in my opinion unless you go when somethings going on I think it’s boring…definitely not for kids!

We had time to do only one Studio Tour and having read Tripadvisor reviews of WB, Sony, Paramount and Universal it seemed that Paramount Pictures Studio Tour had the most consistently good reviews. We made the right decision.
It is accessible by public transport - we didn't have access to a car or Uber - bus line 4 down Santa Monica Boulevard and a short walk down Gower Street (look back and see the Hollywood sign in the hills!) and find the Studio Tours Entrance in Melrose Avenue (photo below). Booking and signing in were efficient and there are costumes to look at and history to read whilst waiting for the tour to start.
This tour is well-organised and well-run. The golf-cart transportation is a great idea. Our Guide Rachel was THE BEST! She knows so much and her enthusiasm really made this tour a highlight for us in our week-long stay in Hollywood.
Paramount is a real working film studio (actually still in Hollywood) and we learnt so much. There's the chance to hold a real Oscar (it's heavy!) and take photos with the Paramount backdrop, sit on Forrest Gump's bench and see lots and lots of things and hear some really interesting inside stories.
It's where film started and you get a real sense of history which goes with that.

Remember to bring photo ID. They won't let you in otherwise. There is a nice pre-tour waiting room with costumes and the Paramount story and a display of five Oscars including for The Godfather. You can hold a real Oscar and have your photo taken. We toured the site on a stretch golf cart. Matt our guide was enthusiastic and good fun. We visited a couple of sound stages and other places on the lot where filming had been done. We visited the Bronson Gate, the painted sky back drop, the B pool, where water scenes are shot, New York street sets and the prop store. Matt had an iPad and showed examples of movie scenes shot at locations on the site. Great experience.

We had an enjoyable visit to the studio tour on a busy Monday morning. Having recently also visited the Warner Bros. tour, we found the Paramount experience to be a lot more “authentic” and intimate. Both were good but in different ways.

There was a lot of activity going on around the studio grounds, including some active filming, which really added to the experience. I suspect those visiting at the weekend might not get to see this - so a weekday visit might be preferable if you are keen on catching some action!

Our guide, Scarlett, did a great job of tailoring the tour to the specific interests of our small group (6 people on our buggy) and answering our questions.

I would have liked to have seen a little more film memorabilia from well known pictures, however the old props, costumes etc on display were well chosen.

We absolutely loved this tour. We were in a small group of six and were driven around in a golf cart. Our tour guide was called Emma and her love for film was very infectious. She was fantastic and made the tour for us, particularly as 2 of our group were rude and disinterested. We got to hold an actual Oscar and sit in the same square as Elvis, Bob Hope and Bing Crosby! There was actual filming going on the day we were there which made it even more exciting.

We have been hitting all the studio tours in LA and we enjoyed this one as well. First, the tour guide was great. Second, it is a much more small group, personal experience than others. The lot itself is gorgeous and we really enjoyed a more relaxed experience as we walked around. Lots of great movie history too!

My son suggested for his birthday that we do a studio tour and suggested Paramount, which in all my time living in SoCal I had not done.

So we drove out to LA, past the rough parts to the better area. There is parking across the street but it isn’t super intuitive. Also on the guard shack it says they validate (misspelled), which they don’t. Not a big deal parking isn’t crazy expensive for the area.

Right across the street is Paramount studios and the tour entrance. They welcome you in and give you cool backstage passes you get to keep. There is a nice little waiting area for the tour to start. Only real issue is that there is only one gender neutral bathroom and the line for it was there the whole time we waited.

Next door a very cool short video about the studio which is a nice way to pass the time if you come in early.

Our tour guide Casey was so awesome. She seemed genuinely excited. She was an actress so maybe she was just really good at playing excited but either way we felt welcomed. Our family had their own personal tour which was great. First thing you get to actually hold an Oscar (original War of the Worlds!) and take pictures with it.

The studio itself was very cool. I won’t spoil it but we enjoyed virtually every moment, especially the prop shop near the end. The gift shop wasn’t over priced though I was a little surprised there wasn’t much movie merchants there, just studio logo stuff. We took a picture with Casey at the end but didn’t tip her which we should have. Really thinking about going back just to do that.

Totally worth it, highly recommend!

The Paramount tour was quite the let down, especially compared to the Warner Bros tour. The tour guide asked what kinds of movies we enjoyed and he proceeded to talk about how his favorite Star Trek movie was made. He also worked in film production so he described where lights were placed, which wasn’t particularly interesting for us.

We did find the prop room interesting, but we were given 5 minutes to look.

The tram was full so my husband and I sat in the last rear facing seat. As a result we couldn’t see what they were pointing out. We saw an empty sound stage and no backlots. There was some filming going on so part of the tour route were inaccessible.

After we passed a sound stage the guide held up an iPad to show an example of what was filmed there. However, as our seats were facing backward, we couldn’t see.

It would have been nice to have more interactive displays.
