Watch Skrtel's Panenka (VIDEO) - Liverpool FC

Two NHL ice hockey stars joined Joe Cole and Martin Skrtel to take part in a special penalty shoot-out at the Reds' training base in Boston on Thursday.

Rich Peverley and Shawn Thornton, who play for local side Boston Bruins, were given crucial advice by Liverpool legend Ian Rush before attempting to beat Brad Jones from 12 yards.

Thornton, who is related to West Brom winger Chris Brunt, teamed up with Skrtel while Peverley was paired with Cole for the test of nerves and skill.

Each person had two opportunities from the spot, with the team that converted the most of their four penalties declared the winners.

Despite joking that Englishmen should not be asked to take a penalty, Cole scored both of his spot-kicks, as did teammate Skrtel, who even produced a Panenka-style finish to fool Jones.

But how would the Bruins boys fare and which duo would claim shootout glory? LFC TV Online subscribers can find out by watching our training ground report.
