Top Museum if you are interested in Polar research. Warning: Please think carefully about the time period you enter at the parking machine. 60 euros are better invested in a dinner than in a parking fine!

Visited the park by getting the No. 12 Tram (Majorstuen Direction and get off at Vigeland Sparken) from the Opera House to right outside the gates.
We stopped at the cafe, which is at the entrance for coffee, we also bought a couple of baguettes to take into the park with us (One prawn, one cheese for 16 euros).
The park is beautiful and you could spend half a day in there just wandering around the sculptures which are amazing.
There are plenty of benches and a lovely river running through the middle.
There is also another little cafe, restaurant, so plenty of choice if you need refreshments.
We thoroughly enjoyed it and it's definitely a must when you go to Oslo.

If you have an hour to spare while in Oslo, a guided tour of the Opera house is well worth the time. Our guide Ingeborg led us through the marvelous building and it was fun to catch a glimpse of what's going on inside all the massive white marble. Spoiler alert: it's a lot bigger than you think!
We were particularly amazed by the architecture and the use of different materials in order to get the best acoustics, etc.
Unfortunately, we didn't get to see the stage curtains in real life. I guess we'll just have to attend an opera to get the real experience. I highly recommend this guided tour.

Included in Oslo pass, this is worth checking out, especially in conjunction with touring the park next door. A lot of the work here seems to be workups and models of the future sculptures you will find in the park. We were here on a Saturday afternoon and we were the only people in the entire museum. The entire museum can easily be seen in less than an hour.

Because this is a viking country you must is it this museum. It small and pricey but still worth it. There are well preserved ships from ancient times and even realistic ones as though you are actually in a ship. Don't miss this one even if you are not a lover of museums.

As a ski nut and particularly cross country skiing I was looking forward to visiting HolmenKollen. The journey by train from Oslo S was brilliant, passing through urban Oslo on a Saturday morning. From the station you have a fairly tough paved climb up to the ski centre, so be prepared to get a bit puffed out! The setting is spectacular with great views of the city below. We paid to visit the top of the jump tower which includes access to the museum first. I expected the museum to be about ski jumping and cross country being that it is actually built in to the tower, but no, it is mainly about artic exploration which you would have already learnt about if you had visited the Fram museum. We then joined the queue for the lift up and waited..and waited. A quick calculation of lift time x people in queue meant that I estimated we would be waiting for 2 hours! Something the ticket lady did not say. We left the queue and asked for a refund which we got. As the weather was lovely we then spent an hour or so walking around surrounding woodland and ski tracks.

Heard this was the place to see Munich’s The Scream, but it’s so much more than that. Some of his other pictures are here including a couple of self portraits. Other Norwegian artists feature too, plus modern sculpture. Dress through the ages features including Queen Maud’s coronation gown. Furniture and design feature too. On the top floor are temporary exhibitions. The restaurant on the ground floor was calm, yet buzzy. The open sandwiches were tempting and tasty. Service was slick. You do have to check in bags, but can take your camera/phone. The lockers are lockable with your own code. A useful tip is to photograph your one to remember its number in the row. A museum guide helps you get around plus you can hire headsets.

This is a wonderful park open (and free!) to the public. The park contains numerous sculptures by the famous sculptor Gustav Vigeland and it’s truly awe inspiring to see these lifelike sculptures made of stone. On a sunny day you’ll find the park filled with locals taking advantage of the nice weather. The park is used for all kinds of recreational activities ranging from working out, dog walking, picnics, concerts, birthday celebrations, playing games, bird watching, etc.
It’s very easy to get here from Oslo Central station either by tram, bus or subway (or simply by walking the few kilometers through the beautiful neighborhoods).
In addition to the sculptures, the park contains cafeterias, tennis courts, a huge play ground for kids and swimming pools (extra cost).

We had a lovely walk around here. We got there by Tram No 12, which stops right outside City Hall.
It has some lovely garden and the fort, a nice little gift shop where you can get coffee and sit in the gardens.
The views from the top are great, you can see right over the harbour.
There are toilets in the gift shop which you can use for free.
There is a museum, which we didn't go into as we didn't have time, but definitely worth a visit whilst you're at Aker Brygge.
