What travelers are saying
- aleekwaAsia101 contributionsyou have to read quite a bit from the wall, but it is worth the time - fascinating stories about polar explorations, with years of dedication and courage. the fact that having two real explorer ships inside the museum is amazing. nice sea view outside of the museums. kids may get a bit boring just running on the boats, but definitely recommended for adults who love adventuresWritten December 19, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Robert V2 contributionsVery nice park that contains an incredible amount of sculptures of the artist. Also the park with different museums was more than worthwhile the trip. With more than 200 sculptures of Vigeland, this is an exceptional place to walk around and contemplate the pieces of art of the artist.Written May 2, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Erina HOslo, Norway280 contributionsIf you have an hour to spare while in Oslo, a guided tour of the Opera house is well worth the time. Our guide Ingeborg led us through the marvelous building and it was fun to catch a glimpse of what's going on inside all the massive white marble. Spoiler alert: it's a lot bigger than you think!
We were particularly amazed by the architecture and the use of different materials in order to get the best acoustics, etc.
Unfortunately, we didn't get to see the stage curtains in real life. I guess we'll just have to attend an opera to get the real experience. I highly recommend this guided tour.Written May 8, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MWeisenselCincinnati, OH191 contributionsIncluded in Oslo pass, this is worth checking out, especially in conjunction with touring the park next door. A lot of the work here seems to be workups and models of the future sculptures you will find in the park. We were here on a Saturday afternoon and we were the only people in the entire museum. The entire museum can easily be seen in less than an hour.Written December 17, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Coryy20Port of Spain, Trinidad4,837 contributionsBecause this is a viking country you must is it this museum. It small and pricey but still worth it. There are well preserved ships from ancient times and even realistic ones as though you are actually in a ship. Don't miss this one even if you are not a lover of museums.Written August 25, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. However I felt like the museum was rather brief. The jump tower allows a nice view over the city in sunny days. Also it’s crazy to see the start perspective of ski jumpers. All in all I felt like it was rather expensive to go up. With the family price being 475 kroner and adult ticket prices 190 kroner. The student discount is 20 kroner, so not that much of a discount. Student discounts, generally, seem to not be as common in Oslo as in other cities.Written April 24, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mak GSan Francisco, CA16 contributionsMust-visit in Oslo. Huge and gorgeous museum featuring local, historic and modern pieces. Difficult to navigate and maze-like but if you have a few hours, spend them wandering. Museum shop was pricey and small, looking for more knickknacks and doodads rather than just designer pieces.Written May 8, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Erina HOslo, Norway280 contributionsThis is a wonderful park open (and free!) to the public. The park contains numerous sculptures by the famous sculptor Gustav Vigeland and it’s truly awe inspiring to see these lifelike sculptures made of stone. On a sunny day you’ll find the park filled with locals taking advantage of the nice weather. The park is used for all kinds of recreational activities ranging from working out, dog walking, picnics, concerts, birthday celebrations, playing games, bird watching, etc.
It’s very easy to get here from Oslo Central station either by tram, bus or subway (or simply by walking the few kilometers through the beautiful neighborhoods).
In addition to the sculptures, the park contains cafeterias, tennis courts, a huge play ground for kids and swimming pools (extra cost).Written May 8, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is worth a walk around and you can visit inside if you want.
