Organized Noize’s Ray Murray, Sleepy Brown, and Rico Wade shaped the sound of the Dirty South producing both Outkast’s and Goodie Mob’s debut albums and starting the Dungeon Family collective, of which both aforementioned groups are members. Their live instrumentation and organic samples were always soulful but retained a grit that allowed for rappers to still attack their verses. They continued to produce for their Dungeon Family brethren, but also impacted other genres, producing TLC’s monster hit, “Waterfalls,” and Mista’s touching “Blackberry Molasses.”
