ernie g This was and is an extraordinary film. The actors all were excellent. The story line riveting. The cinematography above reproach. I am surprised that this film has not received world wide distribution and comment. By the way, I am not Filipino and I do not speak Tagalog. I found this film by accident on NetFlix. Thank goodness for accidents! Kudos to the producers, actors, writes and all that contributed to this movie. World class! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Good exposition of the life of street dwellers but the acting could be better Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Vicious and palpably realistic, Eduardo Roy Jr.'s "Pamilya Ordinaryo" is going to be a hard watch if you live and breathe in the same streets of Manila where the movie's characters thrive. Kudos to the main actors (Ronwaldo Martin and Hasmine Killip) who are so into their roles you'd believe they really are street dwellers. A hard watch but a must watch. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member Sometimes, it's hard to see the realistic side of things with your own eyes. This movie showed the ugly, dark, and hideous truth the poor people in the Philippines experience, and though i kinda knew this truth, the movie managed to make me feel it, and to be honest, i felt horrible. The movie is great, no doubt, but i find it hard to watch because it is too realistic. The development of the main female character is also notable. David Walsh World Socialist Web Site Certain of the characters situated around the central pair are the most effectively drawn, come into the socially sharpest focus: the horrible policeman, the opportunist media types and the various do-gooders. Sep 13, 2021 Full Review Roger Moore Movie Nation Writer-director Roy shows himself to be a De Sica, Spike Lee or Cuaron of the Philippines, an artist who points his camera at his world and makes us see it the way he does. Rated: 3.5/4 Jul 6, 2020 Full Review Sevana Ohandjanian 4:3 This desperation that grips the couple... is palpable to the audience. Dec 15, 2017 Full Review Blake Howard Graffiti With Punctuation "Ordinary People," is not a neo-realist film about working class life, set in a culture of poverty, making a case for redistribution of wealth. The grim reality portrayed is horrific, the moral undertones make it mean. Rated: 2.5/5 Jun 27, 2017 Full Review Read all reviews
