Across three seasons, Only Murders in the Building has received near-unanimous critical acclaim. The Hulu comedy series has been renewed for a fourth season, which star Steve Martin recently claimed might end up being their best batch of episodes yet.

Only Murders in the Building Season 4 began filming in March 2024 in New York City, with Martin's co-star Selena Gomez announcing the start of production on her Instagram account. Speaking with People, Martin revealed that they are now roughly "halfway through" filming Season 4, sharing that everyone involved is "really enjoying this season." The fan-favorite actor also teased that the cast and crew "think it could be one of our best seasons," although he admitted that every season so far has been "flawless." Although they're all flawless."

Martin also noted that Season 4 is a bit more "star-studded" than usual. While previous seasons have featured guest stars like Sting, Jimmy Fallon (both Season 1), Amy Schumer, Mark Consuelos (both Season 2), Matthew Broderick, and Mel Brooks (Season 3), Season 4 is taking things up a notch. So far, confirmed cast members for the next season include comedy legends Eugene Levy (Schitt's Creek), Molly Shannon (Saturday Night Live), Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover trilogy), and Richard Kind (Spin City), as well as Desperate Housewives alum Eva Longoria and Eternals star Kumail Nanjiani, among others.

Oscar winner Meryl Streep will also be returning for Season 4 after making her debut the previous season. Arguably the biggest "get" for Only Murders yet, Streep shared in March 2024 during the FYC event in Los Angeles why she joined the show, admitting that she was simply "a huge fan" and "wanted to have some fun."

What Is Only Murders in the Building About?

Only Murders Season 4 Takes the Trio to L.A.

Similar to previous seasons, the Season 3 finale of Only Murders revealed the next season's victim, with Charles' stunt double, Sazz Pataki (Jane Lynch), being shot dead by an unknown assailant in Charles' apartment. While plot details are scarce, it has been confirmed that Charles (Martin), Oliver (Short), and Mabel (Gomez) will be "searching for answers about who killed Sazz, if they were actually aiming for Charles and why anyone would want to kill either of them."

Only Murders Season 4 will also be partially set in Los Angeles, taking the fan-favorite trio outside of New York for the first time. Disney Television executive Craig Erwich refused to divulge what will bring Charles, Oliver, and Mabel to Los Angeles but confirmed that the city will receive "the same unique Only Murders take" that has previously been applied to NYC and Broadway.

All three seasons of Only Murders in the Building are streaming on Hulu. Season 4 does not yet have a premiere date.
