The movie is overall not that bad, not great either. It just shows that in times of desperation a mother would do just about anything to provide for her kids and in this movie the mother ended up dealing drugs. The acting is not all that great but the entire theme of this movie, is a sobering reality. It is the kids that suffer when parents make bad choices, even choices parents think are to help the kids.
This movie was included as part of my life time movie club membership I don't actually agree with the other review I wouldn't give this movie four stars because it's not exceptional but I would give it 3 1/2 if I could the movie was an eye-opener for me about how deeply some parents struggle to make ends meet and also about the realities of the drug trade and drug dealing that's why I called it a bracing a reality check I thought Diane Keaton was excellent in the movie the movie needed a top actress to be strong because it has an important message Diane Keaton was about 57 when the movie was made but she looks great for her age at the time and is easily passable as the mother of two boys approximately age 11 and 9. I thought the two young actors playing her sons didn't excellent job as well and I was moved by the trials they faced Diane Keaton really had the acting chops for this role Her character is based on a real single mother and Diane does a great job of portraying her struggles financially and her choice to deal drugs in order to meet her kids needs she is excellent in portraying all aspects of what her character goes through as a result of her choices I found the movie moving and it's message excellent I recommend it and recommend it as a good movie for parents tweens and teens to watch together and talk about it is an eye-opening movie about the realities of the dangers of drugs and drug addiction.
