Jesse Stone: Still the Master of All Time in Solving Crimes

Jesse Stone's Journey/ Update 2024

This year 2024 should be the year Tom Selleck gives us another movie wrapping up the good, the bad, and Saul Rubinek's character Hasty Hathaway, who escaped from Jesse Stone after paying a "hit man" to kill Jesse.

We want some answers from Jesse Stone. Maybe Jesse can persuade Tom to pick up his pen and start writing. Jesse's fans are saying enough time has passed to write a thrilling episode.

Jesse Stone is still Paradise's police chief. He still drinks, he still likes women, and he has a new dog. I started this review in 2012. I am updating it on 10/19/2020 for your enjoyment and my pleasure of keeping one of my favorites alive.

Updated 2022-- In my research for Jesse Stone #10, Tom Selleck said, "Fans will need to understand I am older now, and I am working on another Jesse Stone #10. Now, this is from the Internet, so I am hoping that Tom did say this. I want to see the completion of years of following Jesse Stone movies—like a puppy dog, I am following every word I see about this great event.

Let it be known that this puppy wants a bone to chew and to share with friends about the next Jesse Stone movie. No, you are not too old, Jesse, so forget that excuse and start writing, please.

Tom has not retired from his Reagan role—but maybe he will tell us more later. And a note to Tom Selleck: we are all getting older; however, few are as young-looking as you. (Except the women fans—we are still fine as aged wine.)

Update: 10/07/2022 Yes, we are all waiting for Jesse Stone's #10 in the series. Tom might not be able to jump, tackle, or chase like he did in his younger years, but he might surprise even himself. We will be waiting for the great news of the premiere of #10.

Will another Jesse Stone movie be made in 2022 to tie up loose ends?

Saul Rubinek's character Hasty Hathaway escaped from Jesse Stone after paying a "hit man" to kill Jesse. Hathaway was a super con and always told Jesse he liked him, but he did not fool Jesse.

I am hoping that Tom Selleck will produce another Jesse Stone movie in 2022 because we need answers. Refresh your memory by watching the last movie titled "Benefit of the Doubt." as the boss of a crime family. He got away in a boat and left Jesse on the docked ship with a dead hitman and no way to pursue him at the time.

I am ready for Tom to bring Jesse back to us. Take care, my Jesse Stone fans, and stay safe.

03/01/2022 Update-- I am excited about Jesse Stone #10, and I feel it will happen sooner than later. It has been seven years (2015) since the last part of the series was written.

I am trying not to get excited; however, there are many questions to be answered. And I wonder who Jesse's woman will be—no, he has not called me yet for the part.

This is Heartbreaking. I cried.

Benefit of the Doubt Collected Millions of Viewers

It has been 8 years since the last Jesse Stone movie, "Benefit of the Doubt," and I am well past ready for the next one.

I cannot understand why CBS is not interested in doing another one. According to my Internet research, CBS's "Benefit of the Doubt" had up to 15 million viewers, according to my research.

I believe that since CBS feels like home to Tom Selleck for the Jesse Stone movies, he really wants to film the next one with them.

However, will they do it in time to benefit from the momentum of Jesse Stone fans?

Jesse Needs Crimes to Solve

Sometimes, I could shake Jesse Stone (Tom Selleck) for not showing his dog Reggie more love and affection. I can still see the look on Reggie’s (Joe's) beautiful canine face, begging Jesse to love him. Well, it doesn’t matter anymore because, at the beginning of the movie, we find out that Reggie has gone to dog heaven.

Will Jesse get another dog? Since Hasty Hathaway (Saul Rubinek) made an exit out of town with Jesse breathing down his neck, crime in paradise disappeared. And Jesse becomes bored, so he travels to his friend Captain Healy’s (Stephen McHattie) office in Boston to work on cold cases. Jesse works for expenses only because his mind needs the distraction from wandering in the wrong directions and he does not need money.

Jesse leaves Luther "Suitcase Simpson" (Kohl Sudduth) in charge of running the office. Rose Gammon (Kathy Baker) has not returned to Paradise since she divorced her drunken husband and sold the house.

Jesse's Girl Sang Like an Angel

Jesse finds that instead of Healy (who is on a Florida vacation), he will be working with Lt. Sydney Greenstreet (Leslie Hope). Sydney and Healy are both very serious about their professions, but Sydney's relationship with Jesse has a past. She and Jesse were involved in a short lovemaking indulgence, whereas Healy was just a great friend of Jesse’s.

Jesse also paid a visit to the woman who escaped while in Boston (the hard to get and hard to keep is always appealing to most). Her name is Thelma Gleffey (Gloria Reuben), and Jesse told her before he left the bar where she sang that she sang like an angel. He was hurt that she ran away from him and is now seeing her ex-husband. His true feelings came out when he called his ex-wife after not speaking to her for two years and got a recording. Jesse did not l

His first case involved a murderer named Richard Steele (Luke Perry), who confessed to three murders and was blamed for the fourth. Richard told Jesse he did not do the fourth girl, and he hoped Jesse would find out who did it. He did not want to take credit for something he did not do.

Jesse left the prison with many questions: Did he believe Richard? He might have been for the simple reason that the press did not have all the clues; only the ones who worked the case had a need to know about law enforcement.

Who was the fourth victim? We know she was married and had a puppy given to her by her lover, named Steve. Was her killer a cop? Will Jesse solve this crime?

I believe everyone has either seen this movie on Hallmark or has, like myself, purchased it to watch whenever they want.

I hope everyone enjoyed this movie as much as I did, and now I am waiting for the Number 10 Jesse Stone movie, where I hope he chases Hasty Hathaway and puts him in prison this time.

I did not talk about one of the fascinating characters, Gino Fish (William Sadler), whose name I love to hear him tell Jesse, "I know of no such person." He always has Jesse pour a cup of coffee, but Jesse never gets to drink it. He has helped Jesse in the past and will again, I am sure, in the future.

Encore for Lost in Paradise

I am smiling because Jesse Stone fans saw "Lost in Paradise" again on Sunday night in October. Hallmark delighted their fans yet again by making our weekend more enjoyable after a long, hard week at work.

My popcorn was ready, with chocolate drizzled over the top. It does not get any better than seeing Jesse Stone again, and this time with Luke Perry. Three of my favorite pleasures are: popcorn with chocolate while watching Tom Selleck and Luke Perry.

See you there.

Jesse Stone Fans Thanks Hallmark Movies and Mysteries

Hallmark came to the rescue of Jesse Stone Movies, as they will be the new home for Jesse Stone’s ninth movie. Number nine will be Jesse Stone's. The sequel to "Lost in Paradise" continues in Paradise. Will start production in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the real seaport, with a fall premiere.

Hallmark Movies and Mysteries will premiere Jesse Stone’s new movies in future sequels. This is the best news because Hallmark has the best movies, and I am sure we will be happy to see more in the series sooner rather than later since we have waited so long.

Our anticipation will be great as we wait for the fall of 2015—only months away in lieu of years. Did I say I was happy? This is better than chocolate candy or a first kiss.

And, better still, the handsome Luke Perry is joining the cast. I will write more about it soon. I love the way he looks at a woman with his dark eyes. Hurry up to October!

Going Home Again

Let These Rumors be True

I am hearing rumors that Hallmark might be the new home for Jesse Stone’s new movies. We know they are showing reruns of the Jesse Stone series, and all the fans are hopeful we are right about this one.

Look how long we’ve waited for the next Jesse Stone movie, and I am hoping it will be in 2015. Maybe Tom Selleck will issue a statement on this soon, saying that they will be filming in 2015.

My blond hair will be gray with worry about when I will see the next Jesse Stone movie. However, I am waiting just the same because I know Tom Selleck will not let us down.

We can hope and wait, as good fans do.

For Savvy Television Producers

I found on the Internet that the CBS producer stated in 2012 that there would be no more Jesse Stone movies on CBS. Well, I can tell you that I believe that was an asinine decision because it brought older viewers back to CBS because of Jesse Stone. The ratings of adults 50 and older were nearly 10 times higher than the 1.2 rating sales in the potential market using the demographics of adults 18-49.

It is evident someone needs to do their demographics again because the 18-49 age group is watching less television. According to my research, 18-49 age group viewing has declined, by as much as 18%.

The older viewers, 50 and older, have increased, and this group buys the most DVDs. "Hello, television producers, are you doing your homework?" "The baby boomers" are a force to be reckoned with," I say now.

So, that said, we the fans of Jesse Stone wait to see movie # 9—and if there are any intelligent producers out there, it will be done.

My friends have purchased all the Jesse Stone movies online because they tell me it saves them gas and their valuable time not to shop in person.

My Latest News on Jesse Stone's Future

The news from sources stated the producers are looking for another network for the future home of Jesse Stone’s next movie. Jesse Stone will no longer be on CBS for reasons unknown to me. And all we care about is that we will see Jesse Stone's movies and more.

My opinion is that I cannot wait, and I will keep everyone posted with updates. However, if I wait too long, I will need one of Jesse's Scotches-on-the-Rocks. Please hurry, Tom Selleck; your fans are waiting.

Fans are Waiting for Jesse Stone Movie; the Ninth in the Sequel

Fans all over the Internet are searching for any tidbit of news about when Tom Selleck will be filming the 9th movie in the Jesse Stone series. We are all left hanging in anticipation; we are proud Jesse Stone groupies. We are left waiting to see or hear any news.

Aficionados of Jesse Stone are very patiently waiting for the ninth movie. When will we know? How will we know? Will we hear it from Jay Leno? Or, Tom Selleck?

Tom Selleck is currently filming the third season of "Blue Bloods," so it will be some time before he has time to write and direct another Jesse Stone film. And if the ninth movie is the last one, then I want it to end with a good ending with everyone happy and accounted for in the last episode.

I will be searching for words from the ninth movie, and I will update my information for you.

Benefit of the Doubt---Councilman Hanson Visits Jesse

Jesse Stone (Tom Selleck) and his dog Reggie (Joe), a beautiful golden retriever, were enjoying the view of Paradise Bay when Councilman Carter Hanson (Jeremy Ackerman) and Hasty Hathaway (Saul Rubinek) came to visit Jesse.

Of course, Jesse knew what had happened before and had a good idea of what was coming next. The three of them went inside Jesse’s home to talk, followed by Reggie.

Councilman Hanson had hit a brick wall named Captain Healy (Stephen McHattie), who would not give out any information, not even an infinitesimal amount. Of course, Councilman Hanson was not used to being told no, so he did the only thing he could do, which was ask Jesse Stone to come back as Paradise’s police chief.

Jesse had mixed emotions because the accident was a tragedy, involving Deputy Anthony D’Angelo (Vito Rezza) and Paradise Police Chief William Butler (Jeff Geddis). William Butler was Councilman Hanson’s son-in-law. Jesse knew D’Angelo and Butler both had families, and this made him sad.

However, Jesse knew he would be the Chief of Paradise again because he had the skills and was a good friend of Captain Healy. They wanted to know what was going on, and they thought Jesse would tell them. Jesse knew how their minds worked or didn’t.

Jesse Arrived on the Crime Scene of Benefit of the Doubt

When Jesse arrived at the scene, and when Captain Healy found out Jesse was reinstated, he invited him across the line of yellow tape and would not let Councilman Hanson and Hasty enter.

Captain Healy told Jesse not to leave before he saw him, and Healy then went into a black motorhome, and Jesse went to investigate the scene. He met Dr. Perkins (John Beale), who told Jesse they would not let him near the bodies. So, Jesse solved that issue as he walked up to the stage and introduced himself to Dr. Perkins as his M.E. Then, crime-scene photography took over, taking many pictures of the burnt corpses.

Before Jesse left, Captain Healy showed a half-burnt bag of $100,000 they found in the trunk of the car, indicating someone might be a dirty cop. But Jesse did not want that information out because he wanted to prove it was not true.

Will Hastings, who served time in prison for money-laundering, be the guilty one? Jesse keeps his knowledge and clues to himself. And we know Hastings will come to Jesse with, "You know, I think a lot of you, Jesse." I suppose this is Hastings's way of breaking through Jesse's amour, but he is wasting his time.

The Benefit of the Doubt will be released by Amazon on August 7th. I cannot wait to see it again.

Jesse Stops a Vehicle

Jesse stops a vehicle that was following him around. Jesse asked the man for his license and registration. The man's name is Arthur Gallery (Robert Carradine).

Jesse asked him to open his trunk. And, when he did, there was a 308 rifle in the trunk, and Jesse remarked that the 308 was a good sniper gun.

Arthur Gallery replied that it was his deer rifle, and one could tell that Jesse Stone knew more than he was letting anyone know by his expression. T

He gave Arthur a warning—do not follow me around—and then walked back to his Paradise Police Car.

The criminal killing maze is growing, making it harder on Paradise's Chief Stone, but Jesse knew how to investigate as the story began to talk to him.

Death in Paradise

His third movie in the sequel was "Death in Paradise." Jesse had a good heart, but he was also tough, and in this movie, you will see how his hard shell cracked a little as he tried to solve the murder of a once straight teenage student.

Her parents did not even report that she was missing. Jesse questioned the parents and then visited the sister, who is in college.

while concurrently dealing with a domestic violence case. Also, while searching for clues, Jesse has a run-in with the Boston mob.

But tough Jesse took care of them with the ease of a professional lawman who had skills and experience on his side.

Stone Cold

Jesse Stone - Stone Cold (2005)

Stone Cold

The second movie in the sequel was "Stone Cold." Jesse found that Paradise was not the heavenly little fishing town one might think. Jesse begins Stone Cold without his dog Boomer.

Jesse's kidneys failed, and his friend the doctor euthanized him. This added to Jesse’s sadness, which led to him drinking Scotch, knowing whisky is not good for him, and having more and more women in his life. He is determined to kill the pain by using one and loving the other.

One woman in Paradie, Abby, whom he met, considered their relationship just buddies with benefits—the benefit kind that slept together—but Jesse really cared for Abby, who ended up being one of the homicides he was investigating. But Jesse knew who the serial killer was, or maybe killers, and he set his trap for them.

But soon, homicides in Paradise took his mind off of drinking—now if only his ex-wife would stop calling him. His baggage was still following him: alcoholism, an ex-wife, and a disastrous love life. The one good addition to his life was his adopted dog, Reggie, a beautiful golden retriever.

Jesse's close friend was his female deputy police officer, Molly Crane (Viola Davis). He called her when she took a pregnancy leave, and they talked for a long time. He missed her.
