Mel Gibson truly lives up to his Mad Max character.

He's become one of the most blacklisted actors in Hollywood because of his temper, behavior, and comments made over the years. There's certainly a lot of controversies surrounding him that leave people to question what kind of person he really is.

One of Gibson's biggest legal battles came after his ex-baby mama, Russian pianist, Oksana Grigorieva accused him of domestic violence and filed a restraining order in 2010. Grigorieva had previously had a child with ex-James Bond actor, Timothy Dalton, and one video recording of Gibson revealed what he really thought about their relationship.

Gibson now has a new baby mama, but let's look at what went down between Gibson and Grigorieva and, indirectly, Dalton.

The Tapes Were Against Him

Gibson went through something of the same thing that Johnny Depp is going through right now. Both of them now have damaged careers from allegations of domestic abuse, and other stints with the law.

Like Depp, Gibson had secretly recorded tapes of himself that didn't help his case in both his anti-Semitic rant and his domestic abuse case.

The tapes recorded in regards to his domestic lawsuit proved that they might have been a love triangle between Gibson, Grigorieva, and Dalton.

But let's rewind to how the allegations of domestic violence came about.

Gibson was first seen with Grigorieva shortly after his wife of 26 years, Robyn Gibson, filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. Gibson says the real reason for them splitting back in 2006 was his drunk driving arrest.

About a month later, Gibson made his first red carpet appearance with Grigorieva, and in October of that year, she gave birth to their daughter, Lucia.

In April of 2010, the couple had already split, and a couple of months later, Grigorieva filed for a restraining order against Gibson to protect herself and Lucia. A couple of days later, Gibson also filed for a restraining order against Grigorieva.

Then Grigorieva accused Gibson of domestic violence, and an investigation against Gibson was carried out, and recordings of Gibson ranting about Grigorieva and Dalton were found and quickly uploaded to Radaronline.

In the recordings, Gibson is appearing to rant about Grigorieva's relationship with Dalton, saying that she should go back to him and that he regretted the day he decided to have a child with her. "Did you get my last message about me being a bad father and Tim being a great dad now?"

"You didn't hear that one? Well, you should go f--- him now, you know, you fickle c---, because I don't care."

Dalton reportedly supported Grigorieva during her legal troubles against Gibson, so this could have been the reason for Gibson to rant about their relationship.

The recordings took an even darker turn when Gibson suggested that Grigorieva should have sex with anyone she desired in front of her and Dalton's son after he allegedly said he didn't like the way Grigorieva smiled too much at a worker at a tree-planting ceremony they had for Lucia.

"Remember whose f---ing roof you're under. The game's over. Let the new games begin so you can get it on with anybody else and your son can watch. What is it, number 45 that he's going to have to look at? F--king good," Gibson reportedly said.

"I despise you. I don't want you back. You have proven yourself to me. You're not a f---ing woman I want.

"You don't know what the f--- it means to make a man happy. You didn't make me f---ing happy. I couldn't make you happy with the best I did for anybody ever, EVER."

Grigorieva claimed that Gibson had punched her in the head two times, and showed photos of her damaged teeth from the ordeal. In the recordings, Gibson allegedly claimed that she deserved the beating and also threatened to kill her.

After the recordings were released, the legal battle for custody of their daughter started.

Dalton was reportedly enraged with Gibson for involving his son in the tapes and warned Gibson not to go near him.

Meanwhile, Gibson's ex-wife filed a court statement claiming that Gibson had never used violence against her, and Gibson's friends Whoopi Goldberg and Jodie Foster also stood by him. Some of the investigators were even skeptical about some of the tapes.

Gibson denied that he'd hurt Grigorieva or Lucia, but pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor battery charge. The judge wound up granting Gibson access to his daughter in the end, and in return, Grigorieva agreed to a $15 million custody settlement. She later sued her lawyers claiming they'd given her bad advice to sign an unfair agreement.

Speaking to Deadline Hollywood about the tapes, Gibson said, "You have to put it all in the proper context of being in an irrationally, heated discussion at the height of a breakdown, trying to get out of a really unhealthy relationship. It's one terribly awful moment in time, said to one person, in the span of one day and doesn't represent what I truly believe or how I've treated people my entire life."

Gibson has moved on, however, and some sources have said that he received therapy after all the drama. Gibson now has another baby mama, Rosalind Ross, but let's hope their relationship doesn't have the same fate as his and Grigorieva's.
