Doris Lillian Eddie
Lillian Eddie A successful life.... guided by a loving heart, filled with unwavering kindness and a playful sense of humour. A calm, practical nurturer to her family, and all living creatures, even the creepy ones no one else in the family wanted to touch. On Sunday, September 20, 2020, our family said goodbye to our cherished, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister in-law and aunty. Doris Lillian Eddie (nee Nordberg) was 84. Born in Pioneer Mines, B.C., Dec. 10, 1935, the only child of Dagmar Alvide Nordberg and Olaf Larsen Nordberg. Doris was raised in Surrey in the community of Port Mann. She was attending N. Surrey Sec. School when she met her future husband of 59 years, Glen Eddie. Doris and Glen raised 3 children, Gaila Eddie, Dave Eddie and Lois Eddie Ratsoy in Surrey, in the home they built, in the neighbourhood where they established lifelong friendships, and lived for 47 years before moving to Lillooet. Doris had many talents to speak of, gardening, sewing, floral arrangements, collecting rocks for her gardens, and baking, all of which she pursued humbly and shared with her family. A trusted friend who could be counted on to listen and not judge. A homemaker, Doris went back to school to train as a Dental Assistant and was certified as a Medical Care Aide. In addition to carefully tending to her home in Surrey, Doris and Glen managed to maintain and transform the family cabin at Gun Lake to the beautiful family retreat that family and friends all enjoy to this day.
Doris is predeceased by her husband Glen, survived by her children Gaila, Dave (Tracy) and Lois (Lloyd). Her grandchildren, Seth (Deborah), Ryley (Julia), Bowen, Jenni (Mike), Shawn, Garrett and Curtis. Her great-grandchildren Archie, Aurelia, Rowen and Elliot. Her sister in-law Linda Baker. Niece and nephews Sharon, Glen, Jack, Michael, Linda and Kathleen. As well as many great nieces and nephews and cousins in Canada and Norway.
The family wishes to extend the deepest gratitude to the staff at The Residence at Morgan Heights. The exceptional care and attention provided to our Mother and her family is forever in our thoughts.
Very dearly missed but never forgotten. Rest in peace Mom.
