During season two fans saw Sydney and Carmy grow even closer as they continue to work together. And this closeness has caused many take to social media to root for the pair to become a couple. But Ayo has outlined that those who want Carmy and Sydney to get together could be left disappointed.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Ayo explained that while she is grateful for the great support and response to the show, she finds fan theories “frustrating”.

She revealed: “It’s really not our thought process when we’re making the show, and I understand it can be part of a show’s culture — but I don’t think they’re going to get what they want,” when it comes to their hopes for Carmy and Sydney to be together.

Ayo added: “I think it’s incredibly cool to have this dynamic onscreen that isn’t romantic, but that feels charged and sexy."

Carmy did have a short romance in the latest batch of episodes as he reconnected with childhood friend Claire (Molly Gordon). But it appears that the chef put an end to their relationship in the season two finale.

Ayo doesn’t think that Carmy is destined to have a romantic partner at all on the show.

"It’s TV, do you want to see Walter White go to therapy and then reunite with his family?" she joked. "I love this little f**ked-up guy in the kitchen.”

The Bear seasons 1 and 2 are now streaming on Disney+.
