NOTE: This article is only about the Nosferatu version from SpongeBob SquarePants, the real version of Count Orlok can be found here

Count Orlok better known as Nosferatu is a recurring antagonist in the show SpongeBob SquarePants. He is basically Count Orlok in SpongeBob, just a more, comedic version of the character.

He was played by the late Max Schreck through archive footage from the film, in the episode Graveyard Shift, and for the rest of the episodes, he was potrayed by Alexander Ward.

Biography[]

Graveyard Shift[]

He first appears in the SpongeBob SquarePants episode "Graveyard Shift", trying to scare SpongeBob and Squidward by flicking the light switch on and off, so that they would think the Hash Slinging Slasher is haunting them. The other characters, not scared but amused by this, shame him before he smiles.

Night Patty[]

He later appears in the episodes "The Night Patty". In this episode, it is revealed that Nosferatu is the head manager of the night shift of the Krusty Krab. He was summoned by Jerry the Blobfish, who asked him if SpongeBob can fill out his role as fry cook for the night. Nosferatu agrees, and approves SpongeBob as a fry cook for the night shift by drinking his blood through a straw, before going back to rest in his freezer. However, it is debatable if this is the actual Nosferatu, or not, as it is later revealed in the episode that the whole night shift was a trick created by the Tidal Zone.

A Place For Pets[]

Nosferatu briefly appears in the episode "A Place For Pets", where he appears in the song, "Pets are people too". He is gifted a sea bat, and rests with it in his coffin.

Another day, Another Sand Dollar[]

In this book that contains many SpongeBob episodes, Nosferatu appears in the "Graveyard Shift" segment of the book.

SpongeBob`s Truth or Square[]

In this video game for SpongeBob, Nosferatu briefly appears in the background of one of the mini games in the DS version.

Captain Pipsqueak[]

Nosferatu is briefly seen auditioning as a possible member of Every Villain Is Lemons, first seen reading a book in his coffin. He is later seen proposing on stage to join the team, but Man Ray mistakes his power as mime power, so he vaporized him into dust. However, like all SpongeBob characters, Nosferatu survives.

Squidferatu[]

Squidward receives mail from Nosferatu by mistake. Nosferatu appears scaring Squidward, before Slappy arrives and translates for his master that he invited Squidward and SpongeBob to stay.

Slappy Daze[]

Nosferatu is first seen with a red runny nose in his coffin, his assistant Slappy takes him to the doctor to feel better. While Slappy goes out and spends some time by himself, Nosferatu hypnotizes the doctor to serve him blood and cookies. When Slappy eventually arrives, he takes Nosferatu out of the hospital, and Slappy says to his master that he is his best friend and asks him to race him to the castle. Nosferatu turns into a bat and races with Slappy, who is on a bike, to the castle. Nosferatu`s bat form eventually picks up Slappy and flies towards the castle, before the two get eaten by the moon. It is highly likely that Slappy and Nosferatu survived however.

Kamp Coral[]

In the prequel SpongeBob spinoff series Kamp Coral , it is revealed that Nosferatu had a son, known by the nickname "Kidferatu." Though Nosferatu himself doesn't make an appearance, his son Kidferatu makes recurring appearances. He first appears in the episode Cabin of Curiosities, where he meets SpongeBob and Patrick with other monsters. In another episode of Kamp Coral, Kidferatu is seen for a moment eating a Patty as he protects himself from the Sun. In Wise Kraken, Kidferatu is seen as a member of a band. Later, in Help not Wanted Kidferatu appears when Patrick shows Cecil the outhouse, and opens the door with Kidferatu inside. Kidferatu disintegrates into ash, being exposed to sunlight. Patrick apologizes, to which Kidferatu gives a thumb's up, with his hand still smoldering. In another episode, Painting with Squidward, Kidferatu is seen painting a copy of The Scream as Mr. Krabs announces the art contest. Kidferatu hisses, and the painting rolls away, to his surprise. Kamp Coral reveals that Kidferatu had met SpongeBob, meaning SpongeBob probably later met his father Nosferatu, which is probably why Squidward and SpongeBob were not surprised at his appearance in Graveyard Shift. Kidferatu makes his first appearance in the mainstream show, in Squidferatu, where he is seen on a painting with his father down the hallway in Nosferatu`s castle.

Personality[]

Nosferatu wants to scare as many people as he can, as shown when he tries to scare SpongeBob and Squidward. He, like his original counterpart, is shown to have a thirst for blood. He also wants to become a famous supervillain, as shown when he auditions for the E.V.I.L squad. It is presumed he is a loving father however, as he has a son named Kidferatu.

Trivia[]

  • It has been theorized that Nosferatu has some affiliation with the Tidal Zone, though it is unknown how.
  • Initially, it was thought by audiences in SpongeBob SquarePants that the Vampire seen in Kamp Koral was Nosferatu, when he was a kid, but it was recently revealed by Kaz on Facebook that they are separate characters, and that Kidferatu is Nosferatu`s son.
  • In the film Nosferatu, the actual character's name is actually Count Orlok, not Nosferatu like he is called in the franchise.
  • He replaced Floorboard Harry, an original character, in the final draft of "Graveyard Shift."
