My COVID Story: Despite having symptoms, I had to wait for 3 days to get hospitalized

Reshma Pramod Pardeshi got pneumonia and soon tested COVID positive. Her whole family tested positive along with her but luckily only she was showing symptoms and others were asked to home quarantine. Her strength and positive attitude helped her sail through the COVID phase. Here is her journey...
My COVID Story: Despite having symptoms, I had to wait for 3 days to get hospitalized
It’s just a virus...
It was 12 o’clock midnight and my mobile beeped. I received an email with the report that the COVID test is positive. My doctor had already detected Pneumonia and had recommended to get hospitalized irrespective of the COVID report. The virus about which I was listening since so many months was right here. For a moment I went blank, I thought this is end of the world, I was clueless about how I was going to tackle this situation.
My family also tested positive; the only ‘positive’ thing in this was that they were asymptomatic. After a sleepless night, the plan was made. My brother is my mentor, as he has always stood for me and led me to every path of this phase.
You never know how STRONG you are until being ‘Strong’ is the only choice you have. I had the only choice left with me and that was to stand strong and face the fact. The COVID was a fact and I had to accept it. My family had to be home isolated and I had to get hospitalized. I was physically very weak, the fever was drenching me, my body needed rest, I was not able to even walk but I had to drive my family to the hospital to get their home isolation sanctioned. We went to the hospital and after long and hectic hours we got the home isolation for next 14 days.
Now it was the time for me to get hospitalized, this was not that easy. We were trying for the hospitalization for three days. Gone are the days when you are sick and you easily get a bed in a hospital for the treatment. With all the pain in my body and heart I got admitted, pain in the heart because my daughter was isolated at home, no one could go home and be with her nor could she come out. This was a challenging phase and a struggle between a patient and a mother.

I always believe in one thing – whatever happens is for the ‘good’, now was the time to find the good in this phase. The good thing was my mother who is 60+ had minor symptoms and needed no hospitalization. The good thing was my daughter was asymptomatic. They were in the comfort and warmth of our home. The good thing was that my doctor had already done his correct diagnosis and we knew the line of treatment. The good thing was that I got admitted and the treatment was on. Now was the time of patience, of keeping the spirits high and letting GOD take us through the tough time. Every single day was trying my patience. The good thing was my people, my extended family were with me, though not physically but by all means, morally, emotionally. They took the responsibility of taking care of my family for what all they needed. They also kept my morale high by being with me on phone calls, video calls and made sure I do not depress myself.

Now, let me throw light on the fact of this COVID, believe me it’s just a virus but a stubborn one. This is a bitter fact and we have to accept it. Nobody talks about what is to be done after you catch this virus. Based on the experience I got and what my intuition guided me, maintaining the physiological balance is the key to recovery. If you are positive and calm the medication will help. Science best works if it's touched with 'faith'.. This is the time to take the word 'positive' of the medical terminology in the philosophical 'positive' way.
I already had the virus in me which was 'positive' and to add to it I had my 'positive' attitude, I just applied the mathematical rule to it and with the faith turned the two positives to POSITIVE recovery. You might be thinking why this repetition of the word, but friends it's all about 'staying positive' mentally, emotionally, physically..
The rest will be taken care by the medical practitioners, they are the saviours and they know best what to do.
This is a global crisis and nobody is sure of its remedies, however, our heroes that is our Police, our Doctors, our Nurses, the system in all is standing like a rock to safeguard us and the least what we can do is to safeguard 'humanity'. So what if we can't hold each other's hands, let's stand for each other, understand and help each other. Empathize and be a warrior..
Just three things -
Accept it, deal with it and conquer it..
Sooner the days will come when we know exactly how to tackle with this virus, until then hold the spirits high!
