Pop star Ally Brooke is singing to her loved ones, including her fans, on her new Spanish-language single “Mi Música.”

“It basically is telling a story of, with you, I have everything, nothing is needed,” said Brooke, who grew up in San Antonio. “This is the type of message that I want to dedicate and sing to my fans, to my family, to everyone who’s believed in me. Because with them, I really feel like I have everything.”

The single, which has racked up more than 5 million views on YouTube since its video debuted Oct. 22, is the first track from Brooke’s upcoming Spanish-language solo album.

“To sing in Spanish, to honor my culture, is something that’s so meaningful to me,” said Brooke, who has fond memories of singing Selena songs around the house when she was growing up. “Also, to represent San Antonio through this song is very special to me.”

Brooke soared to fame as part of Fifth Harmony, the group that also launched the careers of Camila Cabello and Normani. She wrote about that experience, including the online bullying she faced and how she learned to stand up for herself, in her 2020 memoir, “Finding Your Harmony.”

Brooke, who has sung in Spanish from time to time in the past, says she always has wanted to do more. When she signed a joint record deal with the independent labels Duars Entertainment and AMSI in August, they made it happen. She’s been recording tracks in Puerto Rico and Miami, and filmed the “Mi Música” video at Universal Studios in Orlando.

In addition to singing, she’s also co-writing many of the songs on the album.

“This community of songwriters and producers has really embraced me and love who I am and have really brought the songs and the lyrics that I have wanted to sing to life,” she said. “It has been the most awesome experience of my musical career so far.”

While she’s working on the album, she also has launched a new jewelry line with the jewelry company Love Grenades. Her Let Your Light Shine line is named after one of her favorite Bible verses, Matthew 5:16: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in Heaven.”

The pieces include necklaces and bracelets. They are available at lovegrenades.com.

“I want this to be an emblem of hope and love for so many people,” she said. “I hope to just encourage the world and little girls and moms and everyone to let their light shine.”

As she’s been working on her own projects, she also got to work with a couple of music legends. Several months ago, songwriter Diane Warren asked her to record “Break,” a song for Carlos Santana’s “Blessings and Miracles” album.

“She said it was for Mr. Santana’s album and I just started crying, because he’s a hero in our family,” Brooke said. “I was so honored and blown away. And the song is truly such a beautiful song, it is so special, and it talks about, ‘I’ll be there if you crumble, I’ll be there if you break.’

“ I’m telling my fans that you’re not alone and that I’m here for you — that’s such a beautiful message that we hope can help a lot of people, can heal a lot of people, and touch many people’s lives, especially for their mental health.”

She also hopes her fans take something else from the song and from her other achievements.

“I want to encourage my fans in San Antonio that if you have a dream, you can reach it, to follow your heart, follow your dreams,” she said. “The fact that I’m doing it, I hope that it can inspire someone else, especially in my home town, to know that you can do it, too.”
