When snowboarder Shaun White competes at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, expect girlfriend Nina Dobrev to send lots of love to the three-time gold medalist.
First linked in early 2020, the couple made their romance Instagram official in May of that year. In the weeks leading up to the 2022 Olympics, White praised the “Vampire Diaries” actress, calling her a “lifesaver.”
“Nina’s just been so supportive and so amazing through this whole process for me,” White told People in January 2022. “Through the pandemic, she was a lifesaver — she really made that time in my life special.”

Relationship rumblings
White and Dobrev first fueled relationship rumors in March 2020, when the pair was spotted bike riding in Malibu. The outing came about four months after Dobrev split from screenwriter-direct Grant Mellon.
Making it official on the ‘gram
Dobrev and White poked fun at quarantine haircuts in May 2020, when they made their relationship Instagram official.
“Adding to resume: hairdresser,” Dobrev captioned the post at the time.
Prior to his romance with Dobrev, White dated Sarah Barthel of the band Phantogram.
First Thanksgiving
In November 2020, White and Dobrev celebrated their first Thanksgiving together. The Olympian posted a collection of images to Instagram at the time celebrating the holiday, including a black-and-white snap of himself and Dobrev.
“I’m so thankful to be surrounded by so much love!! Getting older and watching my family continue to grow has been incredible. Hope everyone out there had an amazing thanksgiving!” White exclaimed.
Trying a new sport
White may be one of the most prolific snowboarders of all time, but in 2021, he and Dobrev gave curling a try.
Taking to Instagram in January of that year, the couple posed on the ice with their sweeping brooms and curling stones.
“Do you even curl….?” White quipped at the time, also sharing videos of himself and Dobrev sliding on the ice.
‘Vampire Diaries’ reunion
During a February 2021 outing, White and Dobrev hit the slopes with the actress’ “Vampire Diaries” co-star, Paul Wesley, and his wife, Ines de Ramon.
“So fun taking these guys ridingg! Must have had their daylight rings on …🧛🏼♂️🧛🏻♀️🤔,” White captioned the post with a nod to the beloved CW series, which aired from 2009 to 2017.
Birthday love
For White’s 35th birthday in September 2021, Dobrev got cheeky with the caption for her beau’s Instagram tribute.
“The person in this photo is the funniest, most charming, sexiest, and hardest working person I know. The other person is my boyfriend. Happy birthday baby, thank you for always being older than me,” the actress, who turned 33 in January 2022, wrote.
In a winter wornderland
Before White jetted to Beijing for the Winter Games, he enjoyed a snowy getaway with Dobrev. In images shared on the “Love Hard” star’s Instagram account in January 2022, Dobrev is seen kissing White on the cheek as they both hold their snowboards.
“Winter wonderland,” she gushed.
