McCrory Named to CSCAA's 100 Greatest Swimmers & Divers

DURHAM – Former Duke diver Nick McCrory was selected to the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America's (CSCAA) centennial list of the 100 Greatest Swimmers & Divers.

Nearly three thousand athletes were nominated, with a blue-ribbon panel of current and former college swimmers, coaches, and members of the media making selections from a list of 973 finalists. Eighty-six swimmers and 14 divers were selected. They hail from 28 states and 13 countries. Highlights of the selections include 12 members of the International Swimming Hall of Fame and 59 Olympians.

"It was always a treat to watch Nick dive, whether in practice or in competition," Duke head coach Dan Colella said. "Nick is one of the absolute toughest competitors I have ever known and more than deserving to be recognized in this group of world class athletes."

McCrory was stellar while at Duke, rewriting the record books and capturing titles at the highest stage. He was a four-time national champion in platform diving, winning the title in 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2014. He was an 11-time All-American, 10-time ACC Champion, four-time ACC Most Valuable Men's Diver and four-time ACC Men's Diver of the Year.

"Nick McCrory being named to the top 100 team is so well deserved," Duke diving coach Nunzio Esposto said. "What a wonderful diving career he has had both collegiately and internationally representing the United States. I am honored to have been part of it. Congratulations Nick!"

Outside of collegiate competition, McCrory spent the 2011-12 season away from Duke to qualify and train for the 2012 Olympic Games. While at the Olympics in London, McCrory captured the bronze medal with David Boudia in men's 10-meter platform synchronized diving. He also competed individually in the 10-meter event, placing ninth overall. In addition to Olympic success, he was a six-time national champion throughout his career.

Founded in 1922, the CSCAA is the nation's first organization of college coaches. The mission of the CSCAA is to advance the sport of swimming and diving with coaches at the epicenter of leadership, advocacy, and professional development.

The CSCAA's 100th birthday celebration will continue with upcoming announcements recognizing Centennial MVP's for each team along with a listing of the 100 Greatest Coaches and 100 Alumni of Impact. The anniversary will culminate with the Association's convention and awards banquet, May 2-4, 2022 in Rosemont, Illinois.
