The couple were first reported to be dating in 2018 with Nick inviting Meshach to move into his North London home after less than a year together.

Annie Mac looked radiant in an all-green pant suit for the launch of her debut novel Mother Mother just hours after she appeared on the One Show discussing her reasons for saying goodbye to her popular Radio 1 show.

In an interview, the mother-of-two, whose youngest child is starting school in September, explained the lockdown had given them new insight and they decided they wanted a change from the 'chaos' of their busy schedules.

'I’d been thinking for a long time about being able to be there and have dinner with them and put them to bed, about doing a different radio show or a different thing,' she said.

Speaking about the effect the pandemic had on her outlook, she added: 'I was more aware of the kids than I’ve ever been. Normally I’m away DJing at weekends. Now I was zooming in on them. I could watch them grow every day, like the tulips outside.

'This sounds mad, but for the first part of my kids’ lives, up to this year, I had childcare because we both worked full-time and we were really just blagging it as parents. But for the first time this year I’ve properly started to ‘keep house’.'

She also opened up about her awareness that people were waiting in the wings eager to take over her show and started to become insecure that she was not able to do listeners and artists 'justice' due to her hectic schedule.

Annie then elaborated on her decision to leave Radio 1 as she appeared on Tuesday's episode of  The One Show.

Annie said: 'The thinking was, I've just had the best time and I really wanted to leave Radio 1 feeling like everything was brilliant about my time there and I wanted them to feel that too.

'It's the idea of leaving a party when you're having the best time. I'm conscious of Radio 1 being a place that is, I don't feel like you have to grow out of or too old of music, its ageless, I just feel like I'm ready for a change.'

But Annie was quick to reassure viewers that she plans to return to radio at some point after taking a break and figuring out what her next show might look like.

In April Annie announced she planned to leave BBC Radio 1 after 17 years, amid several line-up changes at the station.

Confirming her departure, the DJ told listeners her job at the broadcaster has been like a 'second home', as Clara Amfo has been revealed as her replacement on BBC Radio 1's flagship music show, Radio 1's Future Sounds.

She said: 'After 17 wonderful years I have decided it's time to leave Radio 1. This second home has been the thread that has run through nearly my whole adult life; I have grown up, fallen in and out of love, moved homes, climbed up the career ladder, got married and become a mother twice over.

'I have done this alongside you, my listeners, who have done your own versions of the same. I will be forever grateful to you all for welcoming me into your days.

'I have never not walked out of the studio feeling lighter and happier than when I walked in, and that is all down to you.

'Working at Radio 1 has been like being at the best party ever and it is a wonderful feeling to be leaving with a huge smile on my face. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!'

Annie later took to Twitter and wrote a statement about her decision to leave, saying she wants to spend more time with her two children who she shares with her husband and fellow BBC Radio 1 DJ Toddla T.

She wrote: 'It's hard to articulate what this job has meant to me. It started with Annie Mac's Mashup on Thursday evenings. Then it was the big move to Fridays.

'Sunday nights was Switch with Grimmy and then The Musical Hot Water Bottle. Since March 2015 it has been every weeknight with the flagship new music show.

'I'm still in awe of the magic of music radio. Of the responsibility of handling these songs that are so powerful they can stop you in your tracks and make your emotions soar.

'I have never not walked out the studio feeling lighter and happier than when I walked in. So why leave? It's all about time really.

'I need more time to see my kids in the evenings now they are both in school. I would like more time to write fiction and to create podcasts.'
