Nick Grimshaw has revealed the story of how he met his boyfriend on Celebrity Juice – although host Keith Lemon didn’t seem too impressed.
The Radio 1 DJ spoke about meeting his partner outside a London pub a few years ago, with his friend acting as matchmaker.
Nick has been dating dancer Meshach Henry since 2018, but Keith accused him of using playground tactics when he first met him.
Speaking on Thursday’s show, Nick said he first crossed paths with his boyfriend ‘in the smoking area of a pub on Hackney Road’ when he was a ‘total stranger’.
‘Me and my friend were queuing to get in and I saw him and didn’t say anything to my friend and my friend, she was in front of me, so went in and she’s like “I’ve literally just seen your husband, that guy, we’ve got to talk to him”,’ Nick said.
The presenter added: ‘I was like “no don’t do it” and then she did.’
Keith took the mickey out of the way Nick’s friend approached Meshach first, joking: ‘”My mate fancies you.” How old are you, 10?’
However it first happened, the pair have been inseparable ever since.
Nick and Meshach have been dating for three years, but have kept details of their relationship private.
We do know that the pair were forced to isolate together last year following a coronavirus scare. Nick had to stay away from Radio 1 for two weeks because Meshach Henry came into contact with a case of the virus in August.
Meanwhile, Celebrity Juice returned this month with regular panelists Maya Jama, Emily Atack and Laura Whitmore – who returned to Celebrity Juice filming just days after welcoming her first child with husband Iain Stirling.
