Nick Carter, whose full name is Nickolas Gene Carter, is an American actor, musician, and singer. He began singing at the age of 9 and quickly gained international recognition as part of the vocal boy group Backstreet Boys. Simultaneously with working for the group, Carter managed to embark on his solo career and was able to achieve a ton of success. Since then, he managed to release three solo albums, one collaborative album with Jordan Knight, and multiple singles.
Besides music, Nick Carter is also known for his occasional appearances on television series and films. Among some of the productions that he took part in are Sesame Street, 8 Simple Rules, 90210, and most recently Dancing with the Stars.
Thanks to his popularity, he starred in his own reality shows – House of Carters (which focuses on all family members) and I (Heart) Nick Carter (which focuses entirely on him).
Nick Carter became famous thanks to the Backstreet Boys. He was born on January 28, 1980, in Jamestown, New York. Because of his parents, he’s of Welsh, German, Irish and English ancestry. Shortly after his birth, Nick and his family moved to Ruskin, Florida where they owned the Garden Villa Retirement Home. Nick was interested in acting and singing when he was a child. When his mother heard him outside, she decided to enroll him in dance (specifically ballet and tap) and voice lessons. By the age of 10, he was already receiving offers to star in various ads and commercials
Taking lessons at the Karl and DiMarco’s School of Theatre and Dance really helped the aspiring actor and singer. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, he had multiple performances that helped him improve his skills. Around the same time, Carter met AJ McLean and Howie Dorough with whom he became friends. Unfortunately, during his pre-teen and teen years, Carter had very rough times mainly because of his parents. At the age of 12, he auditioned for the Backstreet Boys and Disney’s The Mickey Mouse Club.
Despite his mother wanting him to join the latter, Nick agreed to a contract and joined the boy band.
The singer and actor became rich immediately after joining the Backstreet Boys. When he was 13, on April 20, 1993, the group was officially formed.
