We Are Newark Boys Basketball

To Our Supporters – Since 1903 Newark High’s tradition-rich Boys Basketball teams have been led by a total of 10 coaches and many amazing basketball players. In the past 115 years, Newark has won 1,643 contests, 69% of their games. Our program stands as one of the top programs in the history of Ohio High School basketball, ranking third in all-time wins behind Canton McKinley and Archbold. Those wins are proudly displayed at the west end of Gary Walters Court in the Jim Allen Gymnasium and updated by the team after each victory.

The coronavirus has created detrimental gaps in our schedules and funding. We were unable to host Cat Camp, the summer session that normally provides instruction for over 200 basketball players from our community. Our largest fundraiser for the past 21 years has been our annual Ohio Youth Basketball Tournament that hosts over 100 teams each spring. The three-day tournament was postponed twice before we were forced to cancel.

How Are My Donations Used? – The revenue raised through these and other events is vital to sustaining the high caliber of this program. The funds allow us to continue the tradition of unity, providing shoes for all the varsity players, offering assistance for any middle and high school player needing shoes, and providing travel apparel for our high school teams. We believe these things align with our values to work, play, and live as a team.

Our coaches and players would like to thank you in advance for your support through-out the years.  The families, fans, and community members that support us each year are the reason that we can continue to succeed both on and off the court with these young men.  We know that coaching and playing for Newark Basketball is a privilege and our goal each year is the represent this community and school with the utmost pride.
