Alec Burks finished Tuesday’s 121-91 win over the Pacers with 18 points (6-of-11 FGs, 1-of-2 FTs), five rebounds, and five 3-pointers in 23 minutes.

Injuries have thrust Burks into the Knicks’ rotation, and the veteran wing has taken advantage of his opportunity. He’s scored at least 14 points in each of the series’ last three games, giving New York much-needed production. While Burks scoring 20 points in Sunday’s Game 4 defeat did not matter much, that wasn’t the case in Game 5. The Knicks effectively run a seven-man rotation, so Burks won’t lack playing time or opportunities to shine. He’s shown that there’s still something left in the tank.

Josh Hart accumulated 18 points (7-of-16 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), 11 rebounds, three assists, one steal, one block, and two 3-pointers in 39 minutes in Tuesday’s 121-91 win over the Pacers.

Following Sunday’s Game 4 defeat, Hart admitted he did not bring the usual energy to the court. That wasn’t an issue in Game 5, as the extra time spent on the bench during that blowout loss may have refreshed the Knicks’ legs. Hart finished the 30-point win with a full stat line and a double-double, his fourth of the series. And his defensive assignment changed, as the decision to move Miles McBride into the starting lineup pushed Hart onto Pascal Siakam. Expect more of the same in Game 6 on Friday, with the Knicks looking to end the series.
Isaiah Hartenstein

Isaiah Hartenstein dominated the boards in Tuesday’s Game 5 win over the Pacers, grabbing 17 to go along with seven points (2-of-3 FGs, 3-of-4 FTs), five assists, and one blocked shot in 31 minutes.

After he and the Knicks failed to bring the required energy to the court in Game 4 on Sunday, Hartenstein was outstanding on Tuesday. The 7-footer, who stands to command a hefty contract in free agency this summer, grabbed 12 of New York’s 20 offensive rebounds and finished with 17 overall. Hartenstein’s 12 offensive boards tied a franchise playoff record that Charles Oakley initially held. With Tuesday’s 30-point victory, the Knicks will take a 3-2 series lead to Indiana for Game 6 on Friday night.
Miles McBride

Miles McBride played 40 minutes in Tuesday’s win over the Pacers, amassing 17 points (7-of-15 FGs), one rebound, four assists, and three 3-pointers.

Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau decided to move McBride into the starting lineup for Game 5, and that shift helped New York regain momentum in the series. Deuce’s presence gave the Knicks another ball-handler to deal with the Pacers’ full-court pressure, and he also helped harass Tyrese Haliburton on the defensive end of the floor. McBride getting 15 shots was a bit surprising, but he took advantage of those opportunities well. Precious Achiuwa, who started Games 3 and 4, finished with four points, five rebounds, two assists, two steals, and two blocks in 23 minutes off the bench. The Knicks hold a 3-2 series lead with Game 6 on Friday night in Indianapolis.

Jalen Brunson shot 18-of-35 from the field and 6-of-7 from the foul line in Tuesday’s 121-91 win over the Pacers, scoring 44 points with four rebounds, seven assists, and two 3-pointers in 43 minutes.

The home team has not lost a game in this series, as the Knicks rolled the Pacers in Game 5 on Tuesday. And Brunson was scalding hot, scoring 28 points in the first half alone. He would finish with 44 points and seven assists, the fifth time this postseason the Knicks point guard has tallied at least 40 points and five assists in a game. There have been nine such games in Knicks franchise history (Patrick Ewing with two, Bernard King and Carmelo Anthony with one each). The additional rest Brunson and the other Knicks mainstays received during Sunday’s Game 4 blowout appeared to benefit New York, and they’ll have two days to recover for Game 6 on Friday.

Jalen Brunson, Miles McBride, Donte DiVincenzo, Josh Hart, and Isaiah Hartenstein will start Tuesday’s Game 5 against the Pacers.

After starting Precious Achiuwa for the injured OG Anunoby in Games 3 and 4, Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau is going with Deuce McBride for Game 5. While the Knicks will be smaller, sparking some concerns about how they’ll defend Pascal Siakam, they’re better offensively with McBride in the lineup. In addition to his shooting ability, he can help bring the ball up with the Pacers pressuring Brunson for 94 feet.

Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau said before Tuesday’s Game 5 against the Pacers that OG Anunoby (left hamstring strain) has progressed to doing some on-court rehab work.

Injured during the third quarter of the Knicks’ Game 2 victory, Anunoby has not played since. He was already ruled out for Game 5, and the progression to on-court work is progress. However, he still is not a full go, so it appears to be a long shot that Anunoby will be available for Game 6 on Thursday. Precious Achiuwa will remain in the starting lineup, with Miles McBride playing additional minutes off the bench.

OG Anunoby (left hamstring) will remain sidelined for Game 5 against Indiana on Tuesday.

Unsurprisingly, Anunoby will remain sidelined for another game of this series. There were reports that suggested this might be the case, and now it’s official. It’s unclear if he could return for Game 6, but Precious Achiuwa should continue to start until OG is back.

Josh Hart shot 1-of-6 from the field in Sunday’s loss to the Pacers, accounting for two points, three rebounds, and two assists in 24 minutes.

Like many of the Knicks’ available rotation players, Hart appeared to be running on empty in Game 4. He was subbed out far earlier than usual (if he sits at all), and the nature of Sunday’s game led to Hart only playing 24 minutes. The 121-89 loss was a “burn the tape” game for New York, with the additional rest for Hart and the other mainstays in the rotation being the lone positive. The series is tied at two games apiece, with Game 5 set for Tuesday night.

Isaiah Hartenstein (left shoulder injury) finished Sunday’s 121-89 loss to the Pacers with four points (2-of-3 FGs) and five rebounds in 22 minutes.

Hartenstein wasn’t effective in Game 4, and things got even worse when he fell hard on his left arm/shoulder after attempting a layup. The good news for the Knicks is that he remained in the game, with the minutes total impacted more by the state of the game than the injury. However, with a host of Knicks already sidelined, the last thing the team needs is to lose another key rotation player. Following the game, iHart said he may have a pinched never in his shoulder, but X-rays were negative. Hartenstein said he’ll be fine for Game 5 on Tuesday, but don’t be surprised if his name appears on the initial injury report.
