Finding New Mexico Marriage Records[edit | edit source]

New Mexico has no statewide registration of marriage records. All license applications and marriage records are permanently held in the county where the marriage took place and are usually filed with the county clerk.

Marriages Before 1852[edit | edit source]

There are no marriage records filed with the government before 1852. Early marriages were recorded by the Catholic Church. To locate marriage information you must search other records.

Marriages 1852 to Present[edit | edit source]

New Mexico marriage license and records are held in the counties where the marriage took place. The first nine counties were formed in 1852.
