Some workers in New Jersey collecting unemployment may experience delays receiving their $300 weekly federal benefits this week due to a technology upgrade, while others who were double-paid earlier this month will not see checks, to balance out overpayments, the state Department of Labor and Workforce Development said Monday.

"The state Office of Information Technology successfully migrated mainframe processing to a new, much faster platform over the weekend, which will significantly enhance online service delivery to all of our claimants, as well as those accessing other state services," said spokesperson Angela Delli Santi. "However, this statewide planned technological upgrade delayed some of our payment processes that normally occur on weekends."

Those who were unable to certify for benefits on Sunday can certify on Friday, Delli Santi said.

Other claimants received more than one federal payment of $300 on June 5. For those people, no $300 payments were processed for the week ending June 12.

"Those who received more than one extra $300 payment will see their $300 payments continue to be offset until the overpayment is satisfied," Delli Santi said. "Regular state or federal unemployment benefits are not affected, and will continue as usual."
