Biography

  • New Found Glory is an American pop punk/ alternative rock band from Florida, currently consisting of Jordan Pundik, Chad Gilbert, Ian Grushka, and Cyrus Bolooki.

Formed in 1997 by Pundik (vocalist) and Grushka (bassist) who previously played together in bands called Inner City Kids and Flip 60. After the disbandment of Flip 60 Pundik recruited high school classmate and guitarist Stephen Klein to jam with them. Very soon after, drummer Joe Marino and guitarist Chad Gilbert joined the trio, and together they recorded their first EP, “It’s All About The Girls.” Soon after its release, Cyrus Bolooki replaced Marino and the band set out on tour up and down the east coast, quickly gaining a lot of underground attention; this caught the attention of Eulogy Recordings who partnered up with New Found Glory to expand their distribution.

The popularity resulted in their first full album, “Nothing Gold Can Stay,” resulting in their signing with Drive-Thru Records. The subsequent debut single “Hit Or Miss” propelled the band into mainstream popularity, and reached certified gold status. From 2002 to 2004, the band hit the peak of their popularity, taking the headlining slot for the Vans Warped Tour, releasing “Sticks and Stones,” and “Catalyst,” the latter of which sold over 100,000 copies, and reached gold status, making it their third record to reach gold.

From 2006 to 2009, New Found Glory recorded and released three more albums, and signed on to an independent label, Bridge Nine Records and Epitaph Records. Through the new label they released “Not Without a Fight” in 2009 and put on a free show for their fans with a set list entirely requested by the fans. The following year, to mark the celebration of their first album, they re-released their first self-titled album, as well as a world tour with support from Saves The Day, Hellogoodbye, and Fireworks. In April 2011 they recorded “Radiosurgury” which was released later that same year; followed by a series of festivals around the world. In 2014 the band signed with Hopeless Records and released “Resurrection” in October.

Live reviews

  • New Found Glory

I was really looking forward to this show at the Marquee in Tempe. Here were the Pros and Cons:

    PROS:

The band had tons of energy and the crowd was really into it.

They played a pretty good playlist and quite a few songs.

Really not a bad viewing spot in the Marquee Theater in Tempe.

    CONS:

Unfortunately I didn't think they sounded very good when compared to the studio stuff. I realize it not going to be perfect but it should be in the ballpark. They were not. It could be the venue, but the opening band Bayside sounded much better. You could not really hear the vocals for NFG. The lead singer constantly would not sing the chorus due to letting the crowd sing it. That's fine once in a while but not every song!

This band has so many great songs but they only sang 3 of their better songs (in my opinion), but did play a lot of pretty good songs.

Overall this is one of my favorite bands but seeing them live was a disappointment.

    For what it's worth:

I would give NFG a 2.5 out of 5 stars.

I would give Bayside 2.5 out of 5 stars.

  • It can be a challenge to find New Found Glory playing in a small venue, but if you manage it, you will enjoy one of the sweatiest, happiest moments of pop-punk bliss that are possible.

Whether it is watching Ian shake his belly and make hilarious faces or screaming through Hit or Miss until the legendary slide in the bridge, there are few bands able to engage a crowd so quickly and completely.

I have enjoyed Chad taking a more vocal role in keeping the shows moving. Perhaps it is only to help Jordan keep his voice at the ready, but I have appreciated the sense of humor and the plain speech.

Recently on the Parahoy cruise we were treated to 3 days in a row of small shows that remind you how long the list of classic anthems are in the New Found Glory catalog. Rain or shine, you will always get rewarded with a sweaty, loud, mosh at one of their shows.

  • From the beginning the crowd was an excited one, anticipating the songs coming they were no where near ready for the energy that NFG brought as soon as they began to play. The crowd erupted into jumping around, singing lyrics and being part of a rock show that was song after song amazing. As a fan of NFG for 16 years it's great to see the energy from the band has not changed, great crowd interaction and encouraging everyone to sing along and get involved was a valuable experience for first timers and long time fans.

Overall an amazing band producing one of the best concerts I have been to every time I have seen them. Highly recommend fans get a long to the upcoming dates and rockout as much as possible.

  • They're back and as good as they ever were!

It was so good to hear sticks and stones and catalyst played, reliving the memories of that time.

Although they group are approaching the older stages of life, they can still bring it to the show...and that's exactly what they did.

Hearing "No news is good news" live was awesome. One of those songs that are generally missed off a setlist.

Would've loved to have heard some from "Ressurection" and "Makes me Sick" too but 28 songs were good enough.

    Welcome back NFG!

  • Trash Boat was a great opener. NFG went on right at 9:30 and was great! They played all of Sticks and Stones and Catalyst but not in order which was a nice surprise. There was a fight that stopped the show for a second but it was fun to experience how they handled it. There were also so really young kids crowd surfing which was rad. They got up on stage at the end to sing the last song. All in all a great show!

  • once they step on that stage, its nuts man. They played new stuff, they played old stuff, it was insane, haha! Always so full of energy and jumping around and all that, i dont know how they do it. The new album is pretty sick, but man it was good to hear em play stuff like understatement and something i call personality and sonny... New bands take note, this is how its done.

  • Every band on the bill killed it, just wish the Granada knew what Air Conditioning was.

One of the most fun and memorable sets from NFG, regardless of everyone being completely heat exhausted. There was zero air circulation or conditioning present, making the show environment nearly unbearable. Only the absolutely killer sets of all the bands made it worth staying.

  • Fantastic live. Their shows get pretty rowdy with people moshing and crowd surfing so I would choose where you stand wisely if you don't want to get pushed around. They sounded amazing and like to interact with the crowd. Really fun to experience. They played about 30 songs nonstop so it was definitely worth my money. Would see again and again.

  • Incredible show! Beginning of their tour, and they kicked it off beautifully. Crowd was wild and into it, beach balls and blown-up alligators bouncing all over it. Wet dream, really. Handlebar was a great host, as well! Prompt bartenders.
