A 5-year- error[edit]

Sometimes wikipedia editing is good, sometimes not so good. Back in 2013, an anonymous editor added a 51st m0untain that didn't belong. That was removed within a month or two, but all of us failed to notice that the editor had changed the introductory sentence to say that this is a list of 51 peaks. That silly, incredibly obvious error has been there for five years!

oops. - DavidWBrooks (talk) 17:06, 18 May 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I wonder if it stayed up there because there are two mountains entered at number 26. Now, since we're talking prominence, only one of them would have the right amount, but we don't know which one. --Ken Gallager (talk) 19:17, 18 May 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Interesting - of course since No. 26 is an "or" not an "and" there are still only 50 peaks, we just don't know one of them exactly. - DavidWBrooks (talk) 20:45, 18 May 2018 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Who maintains this list?[edit]

An editor has pointed out an obvious question: Who draws up this list? Goig online I find it cited many times but no source as to who measured the prominences. - DavidWBrooks (talk) 13:42, 26 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
