2022 Ford F-150 Lightning
The Lightning name returns on an electric, full-size crew-cab truck. Pricing starts at just $39,974, but that's for the Pro trim level aimed at commercial users. Regular customers will prefer the Ford F-150 Lightning XLT ($52,974), and there are also Lariat and Platinum trims. Every F-150 Lightning has dual electric motors and 4WD, and Ford is offering both a standard battery pack with about 230 miles of range and a bigger pack good for about 300 miles. Horsepower ranges from 426 to 563, while torque is 775 pound-feet.

2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5
The 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 is an entirely new, all-electric midsize SUV based on Hyundai's Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), which will eventually spawn a sub-brand of EVs. Hyundai hasn't yet released pricing on the Ioniq 5, which is due out at the very end of 2021. Its exterior design is unlike anything else in the Hyundai lineup. 2022 Rivian R1T
An all-new, all-electric pickup truck, the 2022 Rivian R1T targets well-heeled consumers seeking adventure. With four electric motors and generous ground clearance, the R1T pickup can tackle serious off-road trails without a conventional transmission or differentials. 2022 Toyota Tundra
Toyota's full-size truck is redesigned for 2022. The 2022 Toyota Tundra has a new frame, multi-link rear suspension with coil springs (like the Ram 1500), and a new engine lineup. A twin-turbocharged V6 engine replaces last year's V8. A hybrid Toyota Tundra also combines the twin-turbo V6 with an electric motor for 437 hp and 583 pound-feet of torque. Both the hybrid and regular V6 use a 10-speed automatic transmission.

2022 Volkswagen Golf R
The redesigned Golf R will show up at Volkswagen dealerships in the U.S. at the very end of 2021. The 2022 VW Golf R uses a 315-hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine. With the DSG 7-speed DCT driving all four wheels through the standard 4Motion AWD system, this engine develops 295 pound-feet of torque. If you go old-school and get the 6-speed manual, it tops out at 280 pound-feet.

The 8th-generation VW GTI arrives for the 2022 model year, and it's more potent than the 7th-generation hot hatch. The 2022 Volkswagen GTI's turbocharged 2.0-liter engine makes 241 hp and 275 pound-feet of torque. You can have it with a 7-speed DCT or a 6-speed manual transmission driving the front wheels. Volkswagen engineers made significant changes to the suspension, steering, and brakes, and VW says the result is a more neutral-handling GTI on twisty roads.

2022 Volvo C40 Recharge
The C40 Recharge is Volvo's first purely electric vehicle, though it shares its basic architecture and styling with the XC40 crossover SUV. Dual electric motors and AWD are standard on the 2022 Volvo C40 Recharge. Volvo estimates its electric crossover will reach 60 mph in 4.5 seconds and offer 210 miles of driving range on the EPA test cycle.
