What travelers are saying
- Laura PDallas, TX40 contributionsOn a day trip to New Bern from Topsail Island, NC, we were pleasantly surprised by the vast amount of opportunities to learn at Tryon Palace and the associated Historic Center. Word of mouth indicated 'a tour'. We found there to be a consistent and well conducted tour of the palace that started on the half hour. As a pre-tour, we were able to take in the Dixon House - a 20 minute tour showcasing the 19th century in furniture, architectural and interior styles and stories of the life and times of the first owners - middle income America. We also discovered there are two additional special tours given on different days than when we visited. PLUS the Historic Center was a huge surprise. We couldn't take advantage of the exhibits or the children's part of the building. Not only that, a wonderful restaurant as far as museum restaurants go AND a really nice gift shop. While we are a sucker for living history museums, the tour experience at Tryon Palace is done very well, maximizes the features of the time periods We know we will be back.Written March 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Vanessa SMaysville, NC325 contributionsNice and clean park.,several trails that have off shoots. Not sure how long everything is together. - jolandablumNew York City, NY26 contributionsBeing out of town we felt like at home. First we enjoyed an evening with tasting different brews they offer - I love hot spicy and the Jalepeno beer didn't disappoint, but loved they also had Selzer, cider, bubbles and super tasty CBD drink. I just adore trying out new things.
Then the next day we had breakfast - wow their muffin and cinnamon buns were so delicious.
We even went back on our second night too and had such a fun evening.
It's such a great place to meet people and start sharing life stories. The staff is incredible attentive and friendly. The owner Pete the nicest owner you possible can find. You can tell his passion to produce the best quality products and to see his customers happy. Their mission to provide a community is a full success. We found a new home away from home and will be back!

The trails are easily discernable, and marked. The temperature was in the upper 40's. The woods were peaceful, and it was nice to leisurely walk the trails while looking at the natural scenery. Notable plants and trees are marked. The trail goes by a stream. This is a free attraction. No comfort facilities. Parking may be full at busier times. Nice for families, solo, or romantic walks. Be careful not to trip on roots in the trail.Written February 15, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Judy V6 contributionsBeautiful views from this park. Plus very photogenic gazebo. Places to picnic, sidewalks for walking or biking, gray areas for playing or sunning, and some cute bear statues scattered throughout.Written September 4, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - duffey3700Richmond, VA2,615 contributionsWe stopped in with our 7 year old granddaughter and she had a ball the 15 minutes before it started raining. She questioned why the park didn't have a roof!! We promised we would bring her back again the next time we were in the area. Really neat park for kids.Written April 12, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Steven R.Wilmington, NC59 contributionsOhhhh What A Night we had. Great local talent. We watched the musical "The Producers" by Mel Brooks and enjoyed every minute. The performers were all excellent. New Bern is blessed to have such talent. The theater itself is small, but that is part of its charm.Written November 14, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
