Will Network make CNN?
This was a bit ahead of it's time. Let's remember at that time, new programing was one hour in the morning,an half hour at luchtime and one hour in the evening. Each story only got a five or ten minute segment and people still read the newspapers. When cable syndicates started in 1977, one year after the release of this film, there were no commercials, at all; so, when CNN cast it's first show, it was 24h everyday of news withOUT commercials. The premise for this film, which was fiction more or less for the time, would be realized with the slow speed car chase of O.J. Simpson in 1994 where 10s of millions of Americans would tune in, glued to the idiot box for two hours, watching what was otherwise uneventful except it was on T.V. Need I say more? This is a great film about a deplorable American social condition known as trending.

Network-1976
It’s like that current series, in a way, that’s called: Succession. No family is involved in this movie. it’s about a news broadcasting station, and that the #’s have dropped immensely.
I remember this movie, and it’s sad that they continue to still do this today. It’s an excellent movie, covering strong morals, values and ethnics. It always comes down to greed and ego. Faye D. did a great job of that.
All the acting was fabulous. An oldie but goodie. I think she began a nightmare with her ideologies, etc.. Look where we are now.

What can I say about NETWORK?

Older movies were better....
The way with which the plot was initially laid out on the table as a fleeting proposition by a drunkard. Then teased and thickened by context plus raw truth which is potent and always relevant to any era in time still subservient to the world order of contracts and corporations as the ruling caste of the day. All to come round full circle to the initial proposal while not having to forsake the knowledge gleaned from what was presented just to keep a linear storyline. On the contrary, it couldn't have had any other finale than the introduction and that type of formal thought is lacking in today's cinema. Bravo!!

I agree...WOW!
An old but still very relevant take on media and how they will use anything; truth, lies, freedom, and slavery for ratings, power, and money. Whatever it takes, not caring at all about the public nor caring about themselves in the end for that matter.
