FORECAST DISCUSSION:

Good Sunday morning!

Clear skies have stuck around to start off Sunday with temperatures fairly mild. Going into the rest of today, temperatures will be much warmer with a mixture of sunshine. Before going into the work week, there is the chance to see a handful of thunderstorms.

Stronger winds out of the south, combined with the sunshine, will see temperatures soar into the mid to upper 70s. By the afternoon and evening, we’re looking at a mixture of sunshine and clouds. This evening into tonight, a cold front will drape down from the north to the south. We’ll see a few scattered showers along it, but also the chance for a couple of thunderstorms. Wet weather will start around sundown and wrap up closer to midnight.

These storms could potentially get a little strong. There is a higher risk for severe weather for areas east of I-77, with a gradual lower risk in Columbus. The main threat with these storms will be with the winds. Wind gusts could be very strong in these storms. A lower end threat would be moderate to large sized hail. At the lowest end is heavy rain and the chance for a spin-up tornado.

Clear weather returns for Monday, but it doesn’t last forever. Rain starts to creep in on Tuesday with much higher chances for showers and storms on Wednesday. Rain will begin to taper once again by Thursday and Friday.

Temperatures remain in the 70s for the first half of this upcoming week. Once rain starts to peak on Wednesday, that will see the beginning of a cooler trend. We’ll fall from the upper 60s on Thursday to the lower 60s into the weekend. A mixture of sunshine and clouds returns for next Saturday.
