Training Support Center (TSC) San Diego was selected as a recipient of the Total Force Retention Excellence Award for fiscal year 2015, Jan. 6.

This marks the second consecutive year TSC San Diego has been recognized for outstanding retention amongst its Sailors.

"This is a job that is not about you," said Navy Counselor 1st Class Daniel View, a native of Los Angeles. "It is about what you can do to help your Sailors succeed. We provided and will continue to provide the tools and resources that are necessary for continued professional and personal growth."

To receive the award, a command must achieve a minimum score of 90 points on its annual command career information program review in addition to meeting program benchmarks that demonstrate the effectiveness of command retention programs in action.

"Earning the award for the second year in a row and being able to raise the pennant is a proud reflection of the hard work ethic of this team to keep highly trained Sailors in the Navy," said Chief Navy Counselor Eduardo Meneses, TSC San Diego's career counselor information program manager.

TSC San Diego Commanding Officer Capt. John D. Wilshusen said he was proud of the Navy career counselor team and staff for the hard work that went into achieving this award.

"There is a lot of effort that goes into this and it is truly a team event," said Wilshusen. "No one can do this alone -- it takes the involvement of everyone on the deck plates to help people understand the opportunities the Navy has to offer and make the decision to stay."

TSC San Diego provides centralized student management and training support to 24 Naval Education and Training Command learning sites throughout the Pacific rim.
